Rohrboitfh and Daughter Among Those Who Witness Birth of Big Ship. ' A group of well known Omaha peo ple witnessed the launching of a great ship in the yards of the Willam ette river near Portland, built to carry 8,800 tons or 880,000 sacks of flour. ; In the party where Mr. and Mrs. G. A. Rohrbough and their daugh tejv Mrs. Bonekemper, who were guests of the shipbuilding company through the courtesy of Mx. Describing the launching, Mr. Rohrbough said: "Just about noqn the din of ham mers and a road of machinery in the yards ceased. Walter Brown, gen eral superintendent, shouted a warning and said, 'She's going.' It was a most thrilling sight to see this monster ship take the water. It was longer than two city blocks, higher tlian a 10-story building, and wider than two city lots. Upon either side of the great ship fell away blocks of lumber as it set tled deeper and deeper into the water. The great crowd waved flajs and were noisy in their expres sions of enthusiasm as the great ship took the water. Hundreds of men who had been engaged in build ing the ship sat upon the deck as the monster was launched. . Ship is Christened. "Mrs. Ben W. Olcott, wife of Gov ernor Olcott, christened the ship, breaking the bottle amid the deaf ening cheers of the spectators, and later receiving congratulations. The lady was made the recipient of a platinum brooch set with diamonds. The formal presentation was , made on behalf of the ship corporation by Vice President C. W. Bowles. "The great shipyards in which this monster was built employs 4.30Q men and is proceeding with the construction of other big ships which will be launched in the early fall. Many other shipyards are also engaged in building ships for Uncle Sam, constructing a fleet which will carry American products to the four corners of the globe." For safe keeping he stored it in the county bastile. A cell was graced by its presence. Adjoining were prisoners whose dust-covered throats and parched lips caused them untold agony. But the dust and parched ness remained not long. One of them conceived a brilliant idea. He secured a mop handle, to which a hooked wire was attached. With this the enemies of society managed to extract and empty an entire case of pint bottles of whiskey. Bottles they cou'd not draw through the bars were emptied by tilting up, the larger portion of the bottle outside the bars. When the discovery was made by the sheriff, the prisoners suspected of having taken the liquor were locked up in cells by them selves. - Hawaii Has Much Tobacco. Honolulu, T. H., Aug. 23. (By Mail.) Mr. Smith says the Hawaiian tobacco classes with the Cuban and Porto Rican product, but that a wrapper has not yet been developed, the growers thus far confining them selves to the cultivation of filler to bacco. 1 nly 1 Chicago, 111., Aug. 23 Disdaining to touch valuables such as silver ware, jewelry and the like, a bur glar broke into the apartment of Dr. Charles Miller here, carried away a sable cap valued at $1,000 and two other fun $100 each. PIPE LINES The Desdemona and Duke fields have outdone themselves and oil productions have been far ahead of the facilities provid ed to get this oil to the market. We plan to at once build, own and operate a system of pipe lines and tank storage' farms to take care of our production, and also a quantity of that of our smaller neighbors who 'are less fortunate. This will pay big money an(J will assure us of getting top prices for our production. REFINERY We are completing plans for a 3,000-bar-rel refinery built on the unit system, so that the capacity may be increased at any time. It began business with a paid-up capital of $60,000.00 and a 40-acre lease, on which there were four produc ing wells. The growth of the Company from that small beginning has been phenomenal. Under capable, aggressive and experienced management it prospered from the firsts This is what it has accomplished in two short years. The Company now has more than 25,000 acres of carefully selected leases in the best oil fields of Texas, Oklahoma and Kansas. It also has FIFTY-THREE PRODUCING WELLS The INVADER COMPANY has maintained a most aggressive drilling policy from the start. As a result the Company now has S3 producing wells, with 8 additional wells now drilling. The policy of the Company has been to drill without ceasing to keep the drills pounding away continuously day and night. This policy accounts for the wonderful success the Company has achieved. This is the ONLY sure way "that a really big and suc cessful oil-producing Company can be built up. f J OWEN A.WOOD, Vice-President. PAID THIRTY-THREE CASH DIVIDENDS The INVADER COMPANY, though only two years old, has already paid to its Stockholders 33 Cash Dividends, and another Dividend will be paid the first of next month. These Dividends have all been paid out of the Company's earnings. A Cash Divi dend has been paid every month, together with many extra divi dends.
