THE OMAHA SUNDAY BEEt AUGUST 10, 1919. 7 A 17 YEAR OLD GIRL, MARRIED 3 TIMES, HELD AS FORGER Says She Wedded First Man On Bet, Second On Dare and Third by Chance. Gladys Dain, 17-year-old wife of a former preacher, and confessed bigamist, yesterday was ar raigned in police court and was held on bonds of $1,500 for forgery. Police are investigating the ad mission of bigamy she made Friday Gladys said she was married three times and divorced but once. The first husband was a farmer, the second a bricklayer, and the last a preacher. "I married the first one on a bet, the second on a dare and the preacher by chance," she said yes terday. Siie said she spent the bridal night with the former preacher, Roy Bookout, and then deserted him. "A girl friend bet me I couldn't capitivate AJbert Larson, my first husband," she explained when asked about the matrimonial wager. "A soul kiss or two and the op portunity for Albert to court me was all that was needed. We were married. I left him after six months. "Then came George Harper. We barrelled and parted. I had only known Roy Bookout a few days when we were married here in Oma ha. I left him the morning after. "How did I charm them? "Oh, I guess it's just the instinct. We girls all have it, you know. "But no more for mine. I'm through with the men if I get out of this trouble." Gladys is a step-daughter of Pres ton Medill, Thirtieth street and Huntington avenue, a contractor. She was arrested for forging checks on her step-father and cash ing them at downtown stores. T! weather!
