Lorns Beindorff to
Succeed Miller as
Ticket Office Chief
The local passenger committee of
the railroad administration, yester
day appointed Louis Beindorff su
perintendent , of the consolidated
.'ticket office to succeed Royal D.
Miller, who resigned to enter the
employ of the Peters' Trust Co. The
appointment is effective August 10.
Mr. Beindorff has had 30 years'
railroad experience in Omaha. He
started his railroad career with the
Union Pacific as a clerk in headquar
ters. Later he became ticket clerk
in the city office and subsequently
city ticket agent. When the gov
ernment took control of the roads
and ordered the consolidation of
ticket offices, he was appointed as
sistant superintendent
J. H. Reynolds was appointed as
sistant agent and S. P. Rutherford,
chief accountant

15 Piece Band Accompanies
' Motor Transport Train
One of the features of the motor
transport convoy scheduled to ar
rive today is a 15-piece band on a
five-ton Packard truck, using 44x10
pneumatic tires. This band is part
of a 58-piece band composed of
Goodyear Tire Co. employes.
The leader is Holly Rosswyn, an
old-time minstrel man.
The Goodyear people furnished 20
men for the truck convoy, among
them C H. Stubig of the publicity
department, and C. C. Witthoeft, in
charge of the band.
Louis Marshall Honored
For His Work at Peace Meet
A banquet and reception to Louis
Marshall was given westerday in
New York City in recognition of his
services as head of the delegation
sent to the Paris peace conference
by the - Jewish organizations of
America to secure a stipulation for
equal civil rights in the peace treaty.
In the list of members of the recep
tion committee are these Omaha
names: Rabbi Frederick Cohn,
Henry Monsky, Victor Rosewater
and Harry B. Zimman.
The palace of the former German
emperor, in Berlin at one time kept
500 housemaids and 1,800 liveried
footmen In employment.

Sheriff Waited, But
Nelson Failed to Show
i Up at His Own Hearing
The county insanity board yester
day continued the hearing which is
to determine the sanity of Harry
Nelson until Sheriff Clark has an
opportunity to locate him. Sheriff
Clark had a "tip" that Nelson would
appear at the hearing yesterday of
his own volition, but Nelson was not
present.
Deputy Sheriff McGaffin, from
whom Nelson escaped last Friday,
waited eagerly on the second floor
of the court house to seize Nelson
when he arrived, but was disap
pointed. John Welch, restaurant man, who
was a member of the draft appeal
board in the Sixth district, testified
at the hearing yesterday that Nelson
had claimed exemption to support
his infirm parents, but complaint of
neighbors that he was not contrib
uting to their support led to his in
duction into the service.
He was sent to Camp Funston,
Mr. Welch said, but was released
from there and returned to Omaha,
where he was reinducted just as the
armistice was signed.

divorce petition filed in district
court. The Grubbs were married n
April, 1918. at Papillion, Neb.

Spensieri for non-support; and
Hazel E. Kramel from Albert R.

Pilot Killed
Mineola, L. I., July 28. Second
Lt. Stephen B. Johnston of Uvalde,
Texas, a pilot, was killed, and Lt.
Amos C. Payne, an observer, was
slightly injured at Hazelhurst field
today, when their airplane fell 200
feet as they attempted to make a
landing.
