For many weeks the construction work on the big general rubber fac
tory being built by the Overland Tire and Rubber Company has been rushed
with all possible speed.
Today an army of workmen is working overtime putting on the finish
ing touches in the way of completing the concrete and steel work for the entire
first unit, placing the hundreds of steel window frames, installing the most
modern heating, lighting, watering, sewerage and sprinkling systems through
out the entire works.
The electric elevators are being installed. Huge vulcanizers to take care
of 500 tires per day are being placed; powerful boilers for generating 500
horsepower are being installed in the up-to-date power house. The stack for
the power house, which is being constructed of solid concrete and steel and
which can be seen for many miles, is nearly completed. It will be 160 feet
in height
THESE MANY ITEMS MUST BE ENTIRELY FINISHED THIS
MONTH, to make ready for the installing of the immense machinery, equip
ment for the entire first unit during the month of August. Over six carloads
of this machinery have already been received and a dozen or more cars of
machinery will quickly follow. Many of these machines are huge in size,
requiring solid concrete and steel bases 10x54 feet and 15 feet in thickness.
Already carloads of the finest cotton and rubber have been purchased,
with a guaranteed September delivery. This means that the GREATEST
HEADWAY IS BEING MADE TOWARD STARTING THE WHEELS OF
THIS GREAT FACTORY, as early as possible and without delay.

The largest and only one of its kind west of Akron, Ohio. We are
going to make tires all kinds and sizes of them, and also a complete
line of all kinds of mechanical rubber goods, such as rubber belting and
hose of all descriptions and sizes J rubber soles and heels; a complete
line of plumbing supplies, besides all kinds of surgical rubber goods,
for which there is an unlimited demand.
Rubber factories of this kind are the ones that have made, such;
wonderful strides in the east and have paid millions of dollars in divi
dend to the investor.
Note the Difference Between Tire Com
panies and General Rubber Companies
A salesman for a tire company visits a town. He calls on the tire
dealer and then he is through with that town.
A salesman for a general rubber company visits a city or town. He
calls on the tire dealer with" his line of tires, tubes and accessories; on
the hardware man with his belting and hose; on the cobbler with his
rubber heels ancTscdes ; on the shoe merchant with his rubber shoes and
boots; on the dry goods merchant with his rubber raincoats, hats and
caps and, lastly, he calls on the druggist with his full line of surgical

town, for the very reason that there is only one agent to deal with.
For example : A tire agent gets orders for hundreds of dollars, while
a general ruftber agent gets orders amounting to thousands of dollars.
