Some Complexion Hints
Maris Walcamp, star of the Uni
versal serial, "The Red Glove," re
ceives many letters from admirers
all over the w6rld, asking how she
manages to preserve such a beau
tiful complexion. Her recipe is sim
ple: "Fresh air and cold water are the
best beauty secrets I know," says
Marie. "A good cream in modera
tion is useful, but other lotions and
massages I consider positiely harm
ful. The pores should be kept open.
Get a good complexion soap and
wash the skin frequently. I never
allow the sun to beat upon my face,
but wear a. wide-brimmed hat, and
often a veil.
"Ice is excellent for hardening the
muscles under the skin, thus pre
venting wrinkles. Plenty of sleep
also is essential to a good complexion."

A Poser.
A little child 5 years of age was
not willing to start off to school.
After trying to coax the little one
to go by sweets and promises of a
penny, the mother turned to her
husband and said.
"Here dad, see if you can get
this child off to school."
The father commenced in this
way:
"Now Jessie run away to school.
I always went to school without any
trouble when I was a little boy."
Little Jessie looked quite sur
prised and said, "You did, daddy?"
"Yes," said the father, "I did.
Now, run away,"
"When you was a little boy,
daddy?" said the child.
"Yes. yes. Now, run away," said
her daddy.
But the child was not satisfied,
and looking up at her father, said:
"Who was my daddy, then, when
you was a little boy?" London

By BEATRICE FAIRFAX
- Smart Little Girl.
Dear Misa Fairfax. Omaha Bee: I
have written to you before and
thought your advice Just fine, so I'm
writing aain. 1 am 12 years old. Do
girls of my age wear silk georgette
or chiffon sleeves to a dress? Should
I wear my hair down? Nearly all
of my friends wear their hair down.
Would you please tell me who Billie
Burke married and how old and how
doos she name her baby? How old
is Mary I'icktord and Anita Stewart?
Do girls of 17 wear silk dresses
now? I have brown hair and blue
eyes. Would a green dress suit mer
Hoping to hear from you soon, I re
main, ROSY CHEEKS.
What a category of questions! You
can think pfetty fast for such a little
girl, and evidently have a thirst for
knowledge. Let that active, danc
ing brain of yours spend itself on
your school work, good reading,
music lessons, etc., and permit your
mother to decide upon the kind of
sleeves you shall have. (She may
want to "make over" something for
you and It would be a ehame for me
to spoil her plans by saying you
shouldn't wear It.) Simple styles
and inexpensive materials are best
for a girl of 12. Think of all the
years you can do your hair "up"
and then wear It "down" while you
can.
Billie Burke is Mrs. Florenz Zieg
feld, jr., and her baby's name Is Pa
tricia Burke Ziegfeld. Mary Pick
ford is 26 years old; Anita Stewart
is 23.
to you for advice. Am I too young
to go out with boys? My parents
seriously object to have young men
call at my home.
I weigh 299 pounds. While
out car riding Is It proper to sit on
a boy's lap If the car is crowded? I
am considered very beautiful and
am highly respectable. Do you
think 1 am too old to wear my hair
in curls and wear ribbonB? How Is
my writing and grammar for a child
of my age? I am a graduate of
Darr university.
Hoping to see this In print soon
and thanking you in advance.
I. R. CUTE.
You're all right In your way, but
you weigh a little too much.
Nancy Frankly, I don't think
that you are at all in love with any
of your three admirers. If you were,
you would not hesitate. Beside at
18, with your longing to travel and
see various parts of the world, 1
think that you will not only make
yourself miserable, but any one of
the eager three.
Don't you think that it Is the man,
as you say, who is undertaking a
large proposition in marying with
out your love? You have forgotten
yourself and It is just there where
the importance commences. The ring
being slipped on your finger is all
very well, but remember that that
is only the begining. I do think,
judging by your letter, that you are
to young. Years do not signify
everything, although 18 is very
young. It is what you are ready for
and what you want. You will be
losing the best and biggest out or
life if, as in a lottery, you merely
become engaged to one of these three
boys, for the sake of being engaged.
You're only a girl that's all.
Movlo A!tresse9.
Dear Miss Fairfax, Omaha Bee:
Will you please tell me the address

Unprofitable.
Dear Miss Fairfax, Omaha Bee:
We are constant readers of your col
umns and we think your advice is
very good, so we are coming to you
for some advice. We are two girls,
13 and 14 years of age. r We are In
the Eighth and Tenth grades, re
spectively. Now, the first question
is: Are we far enough advanced for
our ages? Are we too young to go
with boys? Is it proper to stand on
the corner and talk to boys in the
day time? And last, are we too
young to go to public dances?
Thanking you in advance, we are,
PALS.
P. S. When you have not too
many letters would you please pub
lish this In The Omaha Daily Bee.
You are well advanced in
school for your years. This being
the case, I believe your Judgment
will tell you when It is, or Is not,
proper to stand on a street corner
and talk to boys. It is a bad habit,
but In the course of one's lifetime
there is likely to be an occasion or
two when It Is quite all right to
stop for a brief word on the corner
or elsewhere.
It Is Just as Important in life that
we know what to omit as to what to
Include. Girls of your age can omit
public dances without regret because
there are so many wonderful ways
in which time may be better spent
music, literature, art, athletics,
wholesome companionship with peo
ple, your elders, or girl friends, and
boys need not be excluded. But
dances mean late hours, conscious
association with boys, and at your
time in life an unprofitable expen
diture of time.
