The markat closed strong at 2c to i'ic net gain, with July 179H to 179, and September 172 to 173. Oats finished lc to lc up. Ii. provisions the outcome ranged from 66c decline to a rise of 214c. Bullish sentiment ruled the corn msr ket as soon as traders understood that the current esetlmates meant planted acreage this year would be the smallest since 1909. Ideal weather had at first led to a dip in values, but this influence was almost Immediately forgotten. Af sertlons on the part of bear leaders were also In vain that pending the government report July 1, the 8,000,000-acre reduc tion estimate, equal to the entire acreage of Iowa, was too daring to be trusted. De spite considerable profit taking, the re actions from the top prices of the day were relatively slight. Fear of crop damage gave some inde pendent strength to oats. As in corn trade was en a large scale. Provisions were weak, owing to sharp declines in the value of hogs. Besides, foreign news concerning lard was beariBH. Chicago Futures. Art. Open. High. Low.
