Cattle There was the usual light Fri
day's run of cattle, about 2,000 head, and
the market was steady to perhaps ' a
shade higher than Thursday on both
beef steers and cow stuff. For the week
receipts hav been approximately 24,000
head or some 6,000 more than were her
last week -but 10.000 less than for th
coresponding weela a year ago. On Mon
day and Tuesdajs ' prices advanced 25

but this advance was all lost during
the past two or three days and closing
prices thl week are about on a par with

Chicago Grain and Provisions.
Chicago, June 13. Nervousness over
the crop outlook led to active trading
In corn Friday, and prices touched the
topmost level yet this season. Reactions
roiiowea, nut tns market closed strong.
He to lo net higher, with July $1.72
to $1.72tt and September, $1.(5 to $1.66.
Oats gained Me to Ho. Provisions fin
ished Ho to 7 7o up.
Notwithstanding weather condition
were better, misgivings in regard to the
progress of the new crop seemed to have
attained greater force. The fact that re
ceipt were diminishing drew attention
more sharply than ever to the reduced
acreage, the delayed start and the amall
ness of the carry-over. Besides, there
was a further advance in th hog mar
ket, and thl was deemed especially sig
nificant by many. After the market had
risen to about ( cent above the low
point of aeveral day ago, profit-taking
sales took on large proportions, and there
were report that rural offerings had in
creased. Gains were thus temporarily
wiped out, Toward the last, however,
upturn were again becoming rapid.
Oat bulged with corn.
New record-breaking high price wer
touched by lard. Pork and rib strength
ened, too, all stimulated by jumps In

FINANCIAL
New York, Juns It. This was a day of
aver liquidation on the itoek exchange,
with trading Influenced by th money sit
uation. Declines registered early In h
session were extended when la th final
hour th Interact rate on both mixed and
Industrial collateral rose to II per cent
a new high record for th year. Thla ad
vance. Illustrative of restriction of funds
for (tock market purposes, reflected th
necessity which has arisen for making
money supplies available In other direc
tions, notably for th payment of the
federal income tax Inatallraent due to
morrow, and for meeting th gold expjit
need.
Th dtuatlon wa not on to encourage
pool Interests to support th apeclal atocka
which were foremost on the rise of last
week. Shares ot virtually all groups wer
unloaded freely under th activities of
th bear faction, th occasional abort cov
ering not being sufficiently important to
check the decline, except during momen
tary periods.
Prices for .the motor shares dropped 1 to
13 points lyolls, 1 to $; shippings, $ to 6;
and rails, 1 to 1. United States Steel

In the final hour the llat seemed to re

from spasmodic covering of short con

ther rise In call money rates to the year s
high record. - The cloelng was weak.
Selling ot real stock snd presaurs from

Neither labor controversies nor foreign
political uneertalntlea have cauaed devia

and the conservative elements in the sit

Impose reetralnt en operations, the mar.
kets are now rather quieter, but nothing
suggests lasting abatement of activities
snd many more points of gain than of
loss are still apparent. The commercial
recovery, In fact, has recently been more
rapid ana rarresening than seems to o
generally realised and the liftins of the
embargo oa gold exports from this coun

of the metal to South America, 1 another
