Hogs There were 197 loads of hogs
here today estimated at 14,000 head. The
market opened with a rather weak under
tone, the first sales of the morning being
steady to 6c lower than yesterday. Ship
pers came in with a fairly good demand
and there was a tendency to firm up
values, closing perhaps a little stronger.
Bulk of today's sales was $19.9020.20,
and top at $20.35.

Corn and oats receipts were moderate
today while those of wheat continued
light. Arrivals were 8 cara of wheat, 49
cars of corn, 48 cars of oats, 1 cars of
rye and 7 cara of barley. The grain mar
ket, with the exception of wheat, was
enerallv stronger. Corn ranged from un
chanred to cents higher, the bulk bring'
im hnut a to 4 cents over yesterday.
Some sellers refused to pert with their
samples at today's orrers ana a moaereie
amount was carried over. Oats were
cleaned up at prices ranging from 1 to
1V centa up, the bulk at the extreme ad
vance. Rye was up 3 cents and barley
waa firm. Wheat sold off 6 to 8 cents,
one car of smutty No. 3 hard going at
$3.60, and up to a late hour was the only

previous day, and except for brief Inter
ruptlon, formed an almost continuous ver
tical movement of values since the main
collapse 48 hours before. The successive
breaks which then had carried the mar
ket down so rapidly served to stimulate
eastern shipping demand, but simultane
ously cut off Incentive for offerings from
the country. Besides, the weather was
unfavorable, and there were predictions
of delayed planting and of a shortage of
