Chicago Grain and Provision.
rhlraro. Anrll 28. Big advancea In the
corn market today with trading on a broad
acale resulted to a great extent from a
Jump In the value ot hog to the highest
price ever known, $21.16 a hundredweight.
The close In corn was at the topmost point
reached, a net gain of f 1H a
bushel, with July $1.82 91.62 and Sep
tember tl.69Ui1.59. Oats finished 1
lc up, and provisions stowing a rise
of 12 to 55c.
All dellverle of corn quickly went above
any previous quotation this season, and
despite heavy profit taking sales, kept on
the upgrade almost unchecked throughout
the day. It was pointed out that the mar
ket value of hogs represents corn In the
final stage, and that the feeding cost was
the most generally accepted teat of what
price should be paid for the grain. Strained
political conditions In Europe tended fur
ther to strengthen bullish sentiment and
so, too, did adverse weather for the domes
tic crop movement
Oats were hoisted by the game force
that governed corn.
Much activity as well as strength de
veloped In provisions owing to record
breaking advances ot hog and corn. May
lard jumped to $31.00 per hundredweight,
a new tip top.
