Braditreet's Trade Review.
New York, April 11. Brsdstreet'a to
ororrow will say:
Two contrary currants run through the
trade and Industrial reports to Brad
street's Journal. Ordinary distributive
trade, stlmulatsd by spring influences,
perfeot winter wheat crop conditions, ex
traordinary prices present and prospective
for farm produce, past excellent Industrial
and agricultural earnings and ths return
of hundreds of thoussnds of soldiers to
private life with money in their pockets,
shows further expansion, despite Inclem
ent weather and bad roads In some sea
sons. Buying from wholesslers for fsll Is
rather more confident and while there
are evidences of conservation dus to
price reduction talk the reductions so far
made are not up to expectations. As for
acme time past consumptive demand
seems to single out Unas which havs been
under ths ban of war necessity, hence,
millinery, women's wear of all kinds,
men's clothing, jewelry, automobiles snd
musical Instruments are active.

'Chicago Grain sod Provisions.
Chicago. April 11. Fresh strength de
veloped In the corn market today chiefly
ss a result of word that the United States
shipping board would not assign any more
vessels to ths Argentine trade. Prices
closed unsettled. Ho to 144 0 net higher;
with May $1.67 to $1.68 and July.
$1.49 to $1.60. Oats finished at o
decline to a like advance. In provisions
there was a rise of $2o to 62c. r
Inasmuch as prsssure of Argenttns of
ferings had bees to a large degree re
sponsible for the last setbacks In the value
of corn, the outlook that imports from
Argentina would not broaden out ss muoh
as bad been looked for led to a general
rush this morning to, buy corn hers. Wet
weather snd the scantiness of domestlo
rural offerings tended also to emphasise
bullish sentiment After midday, how
ever, s material reaetlon took place, ow
ing somewhat to likelihood of more lib
eral arrivals next week and to eastern
messages asking on what basis exporters
could cancel purchases. Besides, hedging
sales wers reported as having been made
for Tennessee and Kentucky.
Oats followed corn, advancing early snd
weakening later.
Jumps in provisions were ascribed In
ths main to an Improved outlook for ex
port business. Big shipments from her
continued.
