The de cision of the District of Columbia supreme court ordering discharge from custody, on habeas corpus pro ceedings of Frank J. Godsol, a French citizen, whose extradition was sought by the French govern ment on a charge of making several millions in unauthorized profits on motor truck contracts, was upheld today by the district court of ap peals. Godsol came to this country as an attache of a French war mission. He was arrested March 8, 1918, the French embassy complaint reciting that he had been indicted in France. Political charges developed during the progress of the case in the low er court. The defense alleged that Albert Thomas, former minister of munitions, was the real target of the prosecution and that Godsol was brought in because of close associa tion with Thomas. Godsol contend ed he had not represented the French government in any way in the transactions in question. Railroad Agents Predict Heavy Spring Wheat Crop While the railroads operating in Nebraska will not begin to receive their crop reports much before the middle of April, reports from agent? in the state indicate that condition at this season of the year were never better than now. From every section of Nebrask? and Colorado and Wyoming, as wet come reports of an enormous acre age of wheat, which is reported to be in perfect condition and to be mak ine a rapid growth. As to spring wheat, the acreage gives promise of being the largest in the history of the state. The see.t ing of the cereal is pretty well alonf? and will be finished by the end of the week. In many localities, it is said that farmers have finished seeding and aie now plowing for corn. Says in Cross Petition That He Urged Wife to Come Back Oliver Shouse declares in an an swer and cross-petition filed yester day in district court to his wife's petition tor a divorce that he has continued to live at their old home in Hastings ever since she left him two years ago and has repeatedly urged her to come back there, "where we lived happily together for the last 12 years ot our married life." Mrs. Edith Shouse, the wife, came from Hastings to Omaha two years ago and alleged in her petition for divorce, filed January 9, 1919, that her husband "kept telling her, she should go away from him." Ordinance Would Create Ail-Year-Round Dog Pound A comprehensive ordinance cover ing the regulation of dogs and the operation and maintenance of the city pond, has been recommended for passage by the city council com mittee of the whole.
