14 South Side PACKING FIRM BUYS GROUND EAST OF TRACKS Morris Company Acquires Building to House Portion of Business and Gives Boost to Property Values. The purchase of the Morrill Clay Target property near Twenty-sixth and Q streets- by Morris Packing company was made public yester day when deeds were filed: The consideration was $21,500. The purchase and occupation of this property, which is a three-story brick building with a one-story and trackage addition of lJJx64 feet. . makes it the first building occupied by any of the "big four" packing companies cast or the railroad tracks. According to realtors this move will advance the value oTprop erty facing Twenty-sixth street on the west, all of which is on track age or within reach of trackage. It is the intention of the Morris company to use Jilt newly acquired property for packing boxes, kegs and other "dry" materials, thereby securing room in the main plant for other purposes.- The building secured by the Mor ris company was originally occupied by the Dana Morrill Target com pany, which was engaged in the manufacture of clay pigeons and other targets. Anti-Caboose Strike of Shippers Brings Results The recent anti-caboose strike by 24 stockmen gained results, accord ing to Joseph Barnas of Tarnov, who arrived at the South Side mar ket yesterday with a shipment of cattle and hogs. Mr. Barnas says a day coach was attached to the stock train at Colum bus, Neb., for the accommodation of only four shippers. OBITUARY. EMMA j. BaII.EY, 52 years old, .i resident of Omaha for the last 30 years, died at her home, 4714 North Thirteenth street, Thursday morning following an' operation. Mrs. Bailey and her husband removed to Omaha from Indiana. The husband died last May.
