Bradstreet's Trade Review.
New York, Feb. 28. Bradstreet's tomor
row will ay:
"While the trade and Industrial pace
Is stil( of a cautious character, evidences
of moderate Improvement In distribution
are now too numerous to be denied. Cer
tain It Is that, compared with a month
ago, , there arc fewer poor reports md
a resume of both wholesale and retail
trade, of Industrial conditions and of col
lection reveals the general trend to bt
rather above than below fair. Stormy
weather and a return of winter tempera
ture In the, northern half of the coun
try with the natural effect on country
roads have not been altogether favorable.
The genera, trade movement has been
fairly well sustained throughout the
month. A survey still further back
reveals that business has come through
the winter In better shape than some
sanguine ones had predicted. Weekly
bank clearings $5,911,600,000.
Boston Wool.

shown In the wool market this week, but
it is evident that the mill have no set

needs and In order to keep their mills
running, so far as possible without losing
money.
'England this week removed all re

Chicago Grata and Provisions.
Chicago, Feb. 28. Billiard conditions
prevailing In tbe west tended today to lift
the value of corn, and so did apparently
lessened chances that the hog price mlml
mum would be removed. The market
closed firm, 4c et lower to an advance
of 2c, with May, ll.iS'ito $1.26 and
July, $1.21 to $1,214. Oats finished
unchanged to c higher and provision
unchanged to a gain of 60 cent.
Reports that the severest weather of
the winter, including temperature 10 de
grees below zero, had struck portions of
the corn belt put the bulls at a disad
vantage throughout the day In the corn
market. The reason was that the feed
ing would be enlarged and the rural crop
movement further curtailed. Among; the
most active buyers .were dealers who had
been confident that th hog price minw
mum would be removed overnight, but
who had been dlsippolnted and were fac
ing prospects that the minimum would be
continued until broader export outlets for
provisions furnished a setoff. Some tran
sient depression, however, resulted from
misleading report that farmers who had
not seeded spring wheat In 191$ would
this year be denied th benefit of the
government guarantee.
Oat borrowed firmness from corn, t
Provisions rallied sharply from an early
break. Packers bought.
