the new Victor records for March.
De Luca, who has been in this coun
try but a short while, has learned
the English language and rentiers
the selection with only a slight ac
cent. It is the song of the absent
lover whose thoughts remain at
home with the girl. The Italian
warmth and fervor make themselves
felt in the simple and tender melody.
This is De Luca's first interpreta
tion of an Italian song in English.

Hogs There waa a heavy run of hogs
on today's market, 363 loads, estimated
around 26,000. Prices broke sharply this
morning on the heavy run, and while a
few of the early sales were not over 20c
lower, their bulk was probably 25o lower
than Saturday, and general market work
ed within a range that looked 20M0c
lower. Bulk of today's sales was $16.75
O17.10 and tops at $1',40.
Sheep Sixty-two loads of sheep and
lambs were scheduled to arrive here to
day, estimated at 14,600 head. The mar
ket was slow getting under way and
there waa a weaker tendency, at least on
tho fat lamb trade, ' probably steady to
16o lower catching most of the sales, fat
lambs selling mostly from $17.00 to
$17.60. A couple of loada of feeder sold
this morning at $16.60. Fat ewe were
selling from $11.25 to (11.63, generally
steady with last week.

Grain receipts today, repreaentlng a
total of three daya' run (Saturday being a
holiday) were light with 66 cars of wheat,
99 cars of corn, 71 cara ot oat, 10 cars of
rye and ( cara of barley.
There was generally a fair demand for
corn offertnga with prices 1 to 1 cents
higher. Yellow sold more readily than
mixed. Oata were 14 to hi cent off. Rye
was 1 cents up and barley 1 cent higher.
Wheat prloea generally were firm with No.
2 hard bringing a cent advance.

Chicago Grain and Provisions.
Chicago, Feb. 34. Corn averaged in price
today owing chiefly to the acantlnes of
the crop movement and to prediction of
unsettled weather. The market closed un
settled, 1 cent off to 1 cent up, with May,
$1.2414 to $1.14 and July, $1.194 to
$1.19H. Oats finished o down to a like
advance. Provisions gained 20 to 87c.
In the corn pit the central fact appear
ed to be that rural' holders gave no evi
dence of being more inclined to sell, and
that on the contrary corn was still being
fed freely on the farma. Besides, ad
vices indicated that country roads were
for the most part In bad condition with
no Immediate prospect of Improvement
Reports that labor trouble In Argentina
had not yet been settled tended likewise
to emphasize bullish sentiment. On the
other hand, shipping demand from the
east was slow, and there waa considerable
uncertainty as to whether the present min
imum level of values for hoga would re
main In force during March. Neverthe
less, all deliveries except February fin
ished higher than Saturday's close.
Oat were auatalned by an Important de
crease of the visible supply total.
In the provision market the stimulus
of huge exports, together with corn
strength, operated as more than an effect
for big receipt of hogs.

reasons for the further general advance of
prloea In the stock market today were
the several Indications ot a restoration, In
part at least, of puhlle confidence.
The accession seemed to be founded
largely on the decision of the government
to Issue short term notes Instead of a
long time bond loan, and better trade re
ports. Apart from these developments It has
become Increasingly evident that conserva
tive as well aa speculative Interests have
discounted msny of the factors which
contributed to the depression of recent
month.
Most of the stocks which forced laat
week's market to higher levels were again
to the fore today, notably rubbers, motors.
oils, tobaccos and numerous equipments
end specialties.
