Although evenlng-up of tradea so as to be prepared for the holiday tomorrow made the corn market today average higher, price weakened at the last owing to report that the Argen tine strike situation had taken a favorable turn. The close was unsettled, 14c net lower to H advance, with May, $1.23 to 1.23S and July, I1.18H to 1.184. Oats finished 4 to le down and provision up 10 to 60c. In corn, the buying side appeareH to be the favorite most of the time owing large ly because weather condition were averse to any increase of crop movement. Shorts especially deemed It prudent to se cure th lr profits rather than take the risk of some surprise developments before Monday. After midday, however, the market was without aggressive support, and gave way readily under moderate realizing sales. Word that all the oats required for seed in Canada had been obtained wa a bear ish factor In the oats market. Immense shipments carried provisions sharply higher, and so too, did reports of big new orders to packers. , Cash Quotations: Corn No. 3 yellow $1.32; No, 4 yellow, $1.299130; No. 6 yellow, $1.26l&1.27. Dun' tomorrow will say: While no evidence aopears that general business is emerging from Its lepresston, indications of importance are now less difficult of discernment A change for the better in some uartcr this week has been mainly one of s'ntiment, al though a gatn in actual transactions has slso come in those line where price re ductions have been sufficiently drsstle to awaken buyers' Interest, and there is more tangible reason to anticipate economic re vival as market deflection cotttnues. "Thst trsde recovery Is gradual and checkered, with no sign of It even now In various branches. Is not unnatural, con sidering the uncertainties of the period and no departure from the policy of pur chasing cautiously and almost wholly for Immediate necessities nas been witnessed. While a slowing down has occurred since the Inauguration of peace-time readust ments. the lesst satisfactory newa Is still that which comes from larger Industrial centers where development of civilian order has fallen far short of filling the gap left by suspension of war activities, and where multiplying unemployment of machinery and labor has resulted. She was plaintiff in a divorce ac tion, the conclusion of which was put over until March 18. Mrs. Braley gave a thrilling narra tive, asserting she- was induced to take Braley lor better or worse. "He met me and pointed a re volver, and told me that I just had to marry him, and that there wai an automobile waiting for us," she testified. The judge then asked her to go into more details, so she re lated how she and her sister, Alice, were married at the fame time. Alice Mohring, nee Robinson, tha sister, recently was divorced on ac count of her age, which was 15 last August. Neither sister, it was stated, actually assumed the mat rage relations. Alice was taken from her husband by her mother a few hours after the marriage, and Edna testified that John just went away, but she could not say where. Mohring is now in France. These sisters were married at tha ame time by the acting dean of Trinity cathedral.
