An avalanche of aotlln? orders struck

Th fact that ither had already been a

season's lowest prlc record had been

rural holders were defiant. It was said
also that government allotment of pro

A. A, CLUBS HOT
Nil SALE AT ANY
PRICE SAYS "PA"
Rourke Attempts to Arrange
Consolidation Between St.
Paul and Minneapolis
Without Success.
"Money was no object with Amer
ican league owners," said W. A
Rourke, owner of the Omaha West
em league franchise, on his return
from iMew York. "The A. A. clubs
are not for sale at any price if you
want to move them from their
present locations. I tried every '
possible way to bring a franchise
to Omaha, but it is impossible."
Mr. Rourke said as a final attempt
to secure a franchise for Omahi
he tried to arrange a consolidation ol
the St. Paul and Minneapolis teams
but the owners would not agree. At!
expect to see the biggest season in
history in the minor leagues, and
were unwilling to sell.
"Pa" is optimistic about the out
look for the Western next season.
With Oklahoma. City and Tulsa in
the league he looks for better ball
than ever. The southern clubs are
planning to hold their franchise per
manently. Both cities will build
first class grounds and expect to
spend about $40,000 apiece to enter
the league in style.
Omaha should be greatly benefit
ed by the composition of the league
at present, according to Mr. Rourke,
as practically all of the teams are
located in Omaha trade territory
and rivalry should be keen.
While in the east arrangements
were made with "Bill Bailey" Veeck
by "Pa" to have the Chicago Cubs
stop off for a series of games on
their return from the Pacific coast
where they will do their spring
training.
The Rourkej wilt do the bulk of
their training at home although it
is possible that they may be taken
for a few weeks to either Beatrice,
or Lincoln.
