Omaha, Jan. 18
Continued liberal corn receipt were in
evidence today, with 117 ears, as compared
to 101 cars and 164 cara for ths corre
sponding day last year. Other receipts
were 48 cars of wheat. 68 cars 01 corn,
10 cars of rye nd 11 cars of barley. The
corn market was drsrgy. with prices rang
ing generally from unchanged to to lower.
The bulk was some lower, although the
tables were fairly well cleaned Bp at the
close.
Oata were unchanged to of a cent
off. th bulk unchanged. Rye was nomi
nally several cents off and barley un
changed to one cent decline. There wss a
fair inquiry for wheat at unchanged price.

and provisions unchanged to 7c lower.
Reports that the conference to fix the
February price of bogs had been post
poned from January 23 until January 28

to the duration of the standard. Inas

been on of the chief bullish factors, the
possibility of a reduction In the govern
ment hog price outweighed all other in
fluences affecting corn. Week-end even

place thla week, chiefly owing to report
that Great Britain and France had can
celled big contract for food supplies In
th United States and that corn prices
here and In Argentina would be brought
nearer together. Corn quotation this
morning, compared with a week ago wer
down SHe to !c; oata off lc to 2c,
and provisions varying from 11.80 de
cline to a rise of 15c.
Bearish sentiment dominated th corn
market th grester portion of the time
after word came of the action of Great
Britain and France, regarding food con
tracts, especially a the news wss almost
simultaneous with announcement by the
United States food administration that all
passible steps wer being taken to reduce
the cost of living a statement which was
Ister construed as having close relations
with United States government offers to
sell wheat to domestic millers and with
notice that licenses would be given freely
for Imports from Argentina. On the other
hand, shipping delays In Argentina to
gether with renewed curtailment of the
crop movement from the farms In this
country acted as a check on the bears.
Oats weakened with corn. Provision,
were depressed by grain and by contin
ued big receipts of hogs.

during today's abbreviated session, pro
feseional traders resuming their attacks
against the more susceptible issues.
Conspicuous among the latter wer oil.
Mexican Petroleum lost 6 point and
others 1 to 1. Motors, tobacco, equip
ments and ths steel group also yielded
1 to 1 point
Sailing of United States Steel was the
outstsnding festur of ths final hour,
blocks of 1.000 to 5. 500 shares changing
hands at 90, within 1 points ot Its
minimum of 1118. Shippings snd coppers
also fell a point with such Investment
rails ss Reading snd Louisville and Nash
ville, but distilling shares reversed their
reoent course, showing moderate strength.
Among the more Important stocks final
prices were mostly st lowest levels. Sales
amounted to 816,000 shares.
Bonds eased slightly at the end, Inter
nationals displaying Irregularity. Total
sales (par vslue) sggregated 14,150.000.
