Shonts, president of the Interbor ugh Rapid Transit company, who addressed a letter to the municipal authorities yesterday, announcing hat the corporation faces bank ruptcy unless It is permitted to charge higher fares, followed it up last night with an appeal for the New York Railways company, a sub sidiary. ,Ir. Shonts declared that units? the New York railways which op erates more surface car than any other company in Manhattan, is al lowed to charge an eight cent fare with three cents for transfers, it will be only a short time before it has no funds to continue operations. Most of Sunset Division Will Return Home Soon Washington, Jan. 3. Practically the entire 41st division (Sunset), was included in a list of units announced today by the War department as assigned for early convoy from France. The list shows the head quarters and headquarters troops of the 41st, the 161st regiment com plete, Wd complete, 164th complete, and 162d. less second battalion. Enrico Caruso Will Sing for Omahans Next May The Omaha Chamber of Com merce received a telegram this morning from the managers of En rico Caruso saying that a tour for the singer was being booked and that he would be in Omaha next May.' The message asked if the Chamber of Commerce would book such a concert. Man Held in Virginia as Crones Denies Accusation Norfolk, Va., Jan. 3. George Wyler. held by the local police for the Chicago authorities on suspicion he is Jean Crones, wanted in con nection with attempted poisoning of 200 guests at a banquet in Chi cago m lyio. denies he is Crones.
