: Predicted as Sequel to
: Cancellation of All
: Milling Regulations.
Washington, Dec. 20. Cancella
! tion of all flour milling regulations,
J including fair price schedules and
the price and quantity restrictions
! on the sale of wheat flour by millers,
J which officials expect will result in
I cheaper flour, was formally an
,' nounced late today by the food ad-
ministration.
Notification of tho action was tele
; graphed last night to all zone agents
of the food administration's grain
I, corporation and today there was a
I (hirn rip in the nrirp of wheat bran
and other mill feeds on the Minnea
polis market which officials expect
to be followed by a drop in flour
prices.
Unfair Practices Under Ban.
FvUtinrr regulations restrictlne
J margins of profit on flour and mill
ffa remain in effect as do eeneral
, regulations of the food administra-
tion prohibiting profiteering, hoard-
ing and unfair practices, and officials
said these would be strictly enforced.
The prediction of cheaper flour to
T the consumer, it was stated at the
A aHminwtration i hased on the
' immediate rise today in the price of
. mill feeds, amounting to several
dollars a ton. Close observation of
the market trend in flour and mill
, feeds, made by the food adnunistra
tion's milling division and grain ex
! perts, it was said, showed that with
I every upward movement of feeds
came a fall in the price ot Hour on a
basis of an average drop of three
I and four-lnindredths cents a barrel
on flour to everv $1 a ton increase
,-. on mill feed.
Bran Makes Big Jump.
1 Mmnann1i Tier. 20. The nrice
of bran jumped from $27.73 to $46 a
ton here todav. the sudden rise being
i due to the removal of all milling
restrictions by the government.
s Victor Tarrish of the food ad-
ministrator's office says the orders
'i here mentioned will make little
. t . i f i
cnange in me situation as nmu ic-
strictions have been practically re-
moved for more than a month. Strict
measures against profiteering will
I be taken, however,

Germer Says He Often
Had Sausage and Beer
With Victor L. Berger
Chicaeo. Dec. 20. Cross examina
tion of Adolph Germer, general sec
retary of the national socialist party,
was concluded today at the trial of
five socialist leaders charged with
conspiracy '.j violate the espionage
law.
Germer denied responsibility for
many of the anti-war activities with
which he is charged by the govern
ment. In reply to questions, Germer ex
pressed the opinion that the social
ist proclamation and war program
adopted at the St. Louis convention
and circulated in several languages,
if taken as a whole, was not pro
German. He stated that Victor L.
Berger, one of the defendants vis
ited socialist headquarter about
once a month. Mr. Fleming asked
him what they talked about on these
occasions.
"He always asked me to come
down town to eat sausage and drink
beer," answered the witness.
"Is that all you talked about?"
pursued the lawyer.
"Yes, that is about all."

announced here last night. The 20,-
000 members have pledged them
selves to continue their activities,
