The market closed firm, c to o net higher, with January $1.31 to, $1.33, and May $1.30 to $1.30. Oats finished c off to o up, and provisions Varying from 12c decline to a rise of 15o. Although the ; government orop report did not become public until after trading hours, the fact was well understood be fore hand that the revised figures from Washington in regard to corn production this season were likely to show a decided shrinkage as oompared with preliminary estimates. The consequence waa some thing of a bulge all around in prlcea, es pecially during the last 15 minutes. Ear lier in the day, free buying of January delivery for a leading elevator company was a notable feature, but the bullish ef fect on the market as a whole was partly counterbalanced owing to persistent sell ing of May on the part of commission houses with country conectlons. .
