"We have great, overwhelming
things to be thankful for today,"
said Rev. Mr. Harman. "The great
menace that threatened the world
has beeir removed. The armies of
the allies have overcome the armies
of the central powers. Right has
triumphed over might and real free
dom has been guaranteed for small
as well as large nations. .
"Our boys who have gone across
the seas are already beginning to
come back, their task accomplished
quicker than we expected and with
only a comparatively small toll of
death and wounds.
"We have had bountiful crops, so
that we can feed not only our-
selves, but can help feed those
across the seas who are in need.
"And in the face of all these good
things, we are apt to be unmindful
of the ordinary mercies which have
been vouchsafed us this year as in
years gone by. For we have 110
good thing that does not come from
the great God who rules the uni
verse. These blessings are- innum
erable. There is the blessing ol
life itself, of health, of food to eat,
clothing to keep us warm,, and a
home to shelter. us, the blessing ol
friends, of religion, of schools. The
list of blessings is absolutely limit
less. ,
"It is well on this great day to
sit down for meditation upon these
blessings and to offer up prayeja
of thanksgiving to the Lord who
itiles our lives and makes them so
pleasant."
