Rodo Orlich, 2715 R street, a found not guilty of having intoxi cating liquor in his possesion un lawfully by a jury in district court before Judge Wakeley Friday af ternoon. William Jamieson, attorney foi Orlich, put witnesses on t lie statu to prove that the man was afflictct' with tuberculosis, had purchased the whisky found In his possesion before the dry law went into effect, and was using it for medicinal purposes. After less than five minutes of de liberation the jury returned a ver dict of not guilty. Within a few minutes after the veidict had been rendered a truck backed up to the South Side jail and 40 gallons of old Bourbon whisky, which had been taken from the Orlich home, were secured and returned to Orlich. The Orlich home was raided bv the "booze squad" of the police force on April 20, 1918 and Orlich was arrested. The man is an in valid and has a wife and three chil dren. Ross Davenport Wounded First Time He Went to Front Lieut. Ross Davenport, formerly of Omaha, has been wounded twice in battles in France. The tirst day the young officer w'as at the front he was wounded by shrapnel in the left shoulder. He was in a hospital for two months and then went to the front a.rain but was wounded the sixth day, when a machine pun bullet struck him in the upper part of his left arm. Lieutenant Davenport was wound ed the second time September 16, but when he wrote his parents on October 10 he made no mention of his wounds, although he told of hiv infT been under heavy artillery fire. The young officer'a father, M. B. Davenport, was connected with the advertising department of The Bee for many years. The family now live in Kansas City and the son left his studies at the Kansas university to enter the first officers' training camp at Fort SheriJan, where he was commissioned.
