THE BEE: OMAHA, FRIDAY, NOVEMBER 15, 1918. DES MOINES MAN IS A SUFFERER IN AUSTRIAN GAMP Released Prisoners Tell ofTer rible Conditions; Say Aus ' ' tria May Become An- other Russia. v Italian Headquarters. Nov. 14. (By Associated Press.) G. D. Me Leed of Montreal, an aviator, and C, O. Young of Des Moines, la., im prisoned by the Austrians during the Italian campaign, have reached the Italian lines. They bring direct newt of conditions in the interior of Austria, having traveled from Sal rerbad, near Vienna, after being liberated. . 4 "Horrible food conditions prevail , in Austria," said McLeed yeseterday, and it is quite possible that 1,000, 000 persons will die there this win der from lack of food, weakness and disease. The country is quiet now, but another Russia may grow out of the situation as soon as the troops returning from the front discover that the end of the war has . not , brought relief. "Scenes along the railways are like those on the battlefield. We saw bodies scattered here and there as a result of men crowding on the , tops of strains and being swept off ' by tunnels. There were ak bodies of wounded men, who have been taken from Red Cross cars and left to die. Terrible sanitary conditions prevail in little towns filled with re- turning soldiers. "What Austria needs is food. v That the other prisoners and I are alive is because of food received . from outside of Austria. ' For three days a friend and I had between us only a little Bad bread. It was : about as big as a man's hand. Five hundred newly -arrived Serbian v troops are keeping order at Lai- . bach." . iiliilMliiliiliiliiliiliiliiliiliiliiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiniiiiiiin CROSS-EYES Can Be Cured! Mrs. Tilse Nows Feels as Well ; as She Ever- Did in Her f Life Praises Tanlac. t "It's a positive fact that I. had scarcely seen a well day in sixteen rears till I started on Tanlac, and ' it has certainly fixed me up as strong and well as I ever was in my life," said Mrs. John Tilse, of 1258 South Fifteenth street, Omaha, the , ather day. "The trouble that had been drag ging me down all these years," she ' continued, "came from a disordered stomach and, what the doctors called, gastric indigestion. . I hnd no , appetite and what little I did manage to force down would sour - and bloat me up with gas that pressed so on my heart that I was afraid I would smother to teatn My arms ached so with rheumatism that I could hardly sleep, and at times my knees would pain me and get so stiff that $ was hard for me to walk. I was subject to spells of dizziness, when I would almost fall and just couldn't move about the room without holding on to some thing. Many a time my head would ache so terribly that I would scream with pam and my neighbors would become alarmed and would run over to see what was the matter. I doctored myself for years and took all kinds' of medicines, but nothing did a bit of good till I started on Tanlac. - "I read so much in the papers about Tanlac that I finally decided to;try it next and, positively, I be- ; gin to improve almost from my first dose.
