The store is designed in a manner which both in sures service and sanitation and pre sents such a pleasing appearance as to whet the appetites of all who look upon its trays and tables of edibles. The ample room, 66x132 feet in dimensions, is tiled with terrazo and wainscoted in many shaded Alaskan marble and mirrored glass. Meats are sold from counters of heavy Car rara glass, which, because of lack of porosity, accumulates no waste to de velop tainting odors or to cause an unpleasant appearance. J he Alaskan marble and plate glass of which the huge meat coolers are constructed permit customers to view the sanitary manner in which their meats are preserved in refrig eration. The coolers present a solid fiont of 90 feet of surface. Electric lights diffuse illumination inside and out. Another sanitary feature is the means employed to wash the fish. Commodities of a perishable na ture are refrigerated with a piping system which forces cold air to the equivalent of 20 tons of ice daily Butter will be churned in a display window where visitors may see the entire process and purchase the fresh buttermilk. Mrs. Ruby Lester Fleming di rector of the Red Cross stenographic forces in France, will be in Omaha two days to interview applicants, ac cording to a telegram received Fri day morning by Mrs. Charles T. Kountze from Mrs. Joseph Cudahy of the Chicago bureau of personnel. Mrs. Fleming returned to this coun try recently from seven months in the battle zone. She tells of the courage and devotion of the American girls ic ucnorming tneir task under nerverackmg conditions. Operating a typewriter under fire, she says, re quires as much courage as driving an ambulance. The office staff of the fced Cross in Paris continued with their work through the strain of rir raids and long distance bombard ments.
