their willows until the fifth inning,

Durack, holder of many world's swim
ming records, and Miss Mina Wylie,
also a noted Australian swimmer, ar
rived here last night from the Antipo
des, accompanied by Miss Mary
Durack, sister of the champion. The
swimmers expressed surprise at news
that an attempt had been made since
they left , Australia to prevent their
competing in amateur events in their
scheduled tour of the United States
and exhibited credentials signed by of
ficials or the Amateur swimming
Union of Australia. ,
William Unmack, member of the
board of directors of the Pacific asso
ciation of the Amateur Athletic union,
who examined their credentials, said
they were ample and in line with his
own advices from Australia, and that
both Miss Durack and Miss Wylie
would swim in competitive amateur
events here June IS as scheduled. '
iheir first appearance will be at
Stanford university Saturday in an ex
hibition event.
Duke Kahanamoku, noted Hawaiian
swimmer, arrived on the same steam
ship with Miss Durack. He will be
gin an exhibition tour of the country,
he announced, turning over all re
ceipts save necessary expenses, to the

cablegrams received at the national
headquarters of the Amateur Athletic
union today, the Misses Durack and
Wylie, who arrived from Australia
today at San Francisco, are eligible to
compete in this country. The cable
gram, signed by W. W. Hill of the
Amateur Swimming ; union of Aus
ltralia, reads as follows:

Railway Company for $5,500
Myrtle Deering, in a petition filed
in district court Tuesday, asks $5,500
damages from the Omaha & Council
Bluffs Street Railway company for al
leged permanent injuries sustained in
a street car accident at'Tenth and Pa
cific streets on June 1. She alleges
that through carelessness on the part
of the street car company a "runaway"
car collided with a car upon which she
was riding, throwing her between two
seats and permanently, injuring her. .
She alleges that the motorman' of
the car upon which she was riding
could have avoided the accident but
became frightened anrt
the car, leaving it h the pathway of

Faber, pitcher of the American league
team and hero of the last world's
championship serids, will leave the
club tonight. Faber, who has been
placed in Class A-l of the draft will
spend a few days at his home in Cas
cade, Ja., after which he plans to en
list in the navy at the Great Lakes
training station.
Chicago's batting rally in the sev
enth inning drove Caldwell off the
mound and enabled the locals to make
it three straight from New York to
day, 5 to '4. The visitors threatened
in their half of the seventh inning
and Danforth replaced Benz and

Zbvszko is scheduled to clash with
Toe Stecher, the scissors slammer of
Dodge, Neb., is not to come off until
June 12, but Zibby and Curley plan to
be here early tor two reasons.
Their first reason is to arrive in
Omaha in time to convince the fans
Zibby will be on the job this time.
1 he other is that by getting here fcun
day they land the day before the ex
istinar railroad tariffs become ' de
ceased. The foxy Curley will save
several kopecs by this stunt.
Zibby Meets Linow.
Friday ninht of this week Zibby is
carded to battle with one Ivan Linow,
who is called the "Russian Cossack,"
at Buffalo. In the light of the recent
unoleasantry. Zibby is a little bit
peevish with Russia and all things
Russian and expects to. tear Mr,
Linow limb from limb. Having com
pleted this job, Zibby -will catch the
