Debris filled the streets. Homes were swept away. Little children were left fatherless or motherlsss', or both. It was a scene of terror a scene of horror. Bravely1 and sturdily Omaha tried to staunch her wounds caused by this terrible invasion of nature. But from . the outside world there came relief. Twenty-four hours after word had gone out that . Omaha was suffering, the Red Cross came to us came like the first ray of light which shatters the dark ' ness. The hand of mercy reached out to Omaha and poured ' its gold into the storm-stricken areas. ' .. . . ' . . 7 It gave it gave $40,000 to Omaha. ' It gave without stint. .
