narrow arrair today, business being con
fined to ths disposition of only 73 ears,
the total receipts for ths day. Wheat re

Cash corn displayed a general wsakness,
ths bulk showing a decline of lo to 3c. A
few cars, however, brought yesterday's
prloes, but were very low In moisture. Re
ceipts were only 46 cars but an Inactive
market caused trade to drag throughout
the session.
Oats wars steady to Ho higher, a few
cars of the lower grades showing a free
tlonal advance." Ths commercial grades were
generally unchanged. No. 3 white sold at
74o and 1(o and ths standard grade at
75o. No. ( white brought 73 Ho and 74Ho
and the No. 4 white, 7344c. Sample white
oats sold at 73o and 73Hc
Rye was quiet, no receipts being report
ed, while barley was unchanged. No. ( and

the government crop report, while Indicating
one of the three largest wheat crops ever
grown, would not prove altogether as bearish
as had recently been looked for had a good
deal to do today with rallying ths corn
market from temporary sharp declines.
Prices closed unsettled, V4o net lower to Ho
advance, with May (1.J7H and $1.46 to
$1.46 H July. Oats gained Ho to lo net, and
provisions 17s to (7o.
Inasmuch as prlvats sstlmatea within the
last week havs placed the prospective winter
wheat orop at (00,000,000 bushels to (60,.
000,000 bushels, ths official figures Indicat
ing a total of about 673,000,000 bushels were
not up to sxpeotatlons. although decidedly
better than ths average.
Prospects ot unseasonabla low tempera
tures by Friday or Saturday tended also to
handicap the corn bears. During ths first
part of ths day, however, bulla were at a
disadvantage owing to government figures
showing that commercial stocks ot corn
were much larger than a year ago. The
