The spot demand for corn was rather
slow. The first sales were made at practi
cally unchanged prices, while some of the
better classes sold later on at sn advance
of 2c. The bulk was generally unchanged to

caused many sellers to bold off.

than offset everything bearish regarding
corn. As a result, prices scored a swift
advance after a decline which had followed
the opening. The transient weakness was

York at $1.40 a bushel. Subsequently,
however, smallness of rural notices of con

did briskness of industrial demand. Then
came the robust development of strength
