Representative sales:
Hugs The hog market opened this morn
ing on a supply of 16,000 hesd. or S07 cars,
snd yesterday's weakness was displayed on
the early market, when packers ami ship
pers bought hogs 10 and 15 cents, and In
some cases 15 and 26 cents lower, than yes
terdays best time. By mid -forenoon, how
ever, tlio market had gained some strength
and sales were made around steady prices.
Salesmen pretty generally were holding off
for higher prices, all hough quite a large
number of the holders were sold on th
arlv trade. Hulk of the receipts changed
bunds at $16.65 and $17.10. Shippers paid
$17.15 for choice light kinds, the top for the
ilny. The general market is 10 and 18 cents
low"er, closing steady.
heep The sheep receipts today were
reasonably llberul for a Friday, with the
market opening active to possibly stronger
than yesterday. Among tho early sales were
several lota of fut Mexican lambs at $20.80.
This Is the highest price reached here. Other
lambs sold for $20.75. There were several
cars of ewes on the market, snd sales re
ported for these were $16 10 and $18.20, the
latter price being the highest reached this
season. The market Is generally stronger,
with a good clearance.

Setbacks la Corn, Result ( Excessive
Advance Yesterday.
Chicago. April 13. Sharp setback took,
place today In the price of corn as a re- '
suit vt generally accepted opinions that yes
terday's swift advance had been excessive
In extent.
Probability of an Incrssse In the crop
movement next week tended likewise to
favor the bear aide, and so, too, did the
fact that hedging sales are not limited to
any specific amount. Opening prices, which
varied from unchanged figures to l'4o
lower, with May $1.27 and July $1.66 ro
$1.67, were followed by decided further
losses In the July delivery.
Fine weather and lack of an eastern out.
let weakened oats. Besides, the downturn,
of the corn market had a bearish Influence.
After opening He to lo lower, with My.
86 Ho to 88VtC, prices continued to decline.
Provisions sagged with grain and hogs.
Trading was chiefly In lard.
