"BIG THREE" OF
MOVIE WORLD-TO
APPEAR IN OMAHA
Some of the greatest movie stars
of the country will be in Omaha next
Wednesday. They are Charley Chap
lin, Mary Pickford and Douglas Fair
banks. They, will speak in behalf of
the third Liberty loan.
The time and place for the meet
ings has not yet been definitely an
nounced. The Liberty loan commit
tee will make an effort to hold these
three movie stars in Omaha an extra
day for further meetings.
Liberty Loan Notes.
A speakers' receotion ouartet has
been appointed, consisting of Frank
Gaines, W. F. Gurley, H. M. Baid
rige and F. A. Brogan. These gentle
men will take turns in welcoming the
visiting Liberty loan speakers and
accompanying them during their stay
in the city.
Dr. Robert McNutt Mcllroy, who
speaks in Omaha Monday, April 1,
has been granted a year's leave from
Princeton university, to take charge
of a nation-wide campaign of pa
triotism through education, which is
being conducted by the National Se
curity league. Two years ago Dr.
Mcllroy made a tour of China as an
American exchange professor. All of
the leading universities have released
professors to co-operate in the move
ment. j(Dr. Mcllroy appears in Oma
ha under the auspices of the Nebras
ka Liberty loan committee and the
Nebraska branch of the National Se
curity league. , ,
Miss .Kathleen Burke, who appears
in Omaha April 1 with Dr. Mcllroy,
is a Scottish nurse who has made four
separate tours of the western fight
ing fronts and wears the decorations
of Serbia, France and Russia. She
was the first woman admitted to the
British front line trenches..
William P. Byrne, chairman of the
theater publicity committee, has an
nounced the selection of the follow
ing slogans, which will be used in
the picture houses of Omaha during
the first week of the campaign?
"Get in the Liberty parade, Satur
day, April 6. All real Americans will
be there."
"Fight 1 Or buy bonds of the third
Liberty loan."
"Bonds or blood? Who will hesi
tate; to loan his money to the govern
ment when our buys are bleeding in
the trenches?"
"Bonds or bondage? Buy a third
Liberty loan bond. Your money will
be refunded to you German indem
nities are never refunded."
Private Peat, who appears in Oma
ha April 8, has been invited by Gould
Dietz to advance the dats of his ar
rival in Omaha so that he may march
in the patriotic parade on April 6.
Colonel Pickering Assigned
To Command at Fort Crook
Colonel Abner Pickering has been
assigned to the Forty-first infantry at
Fort Crook and will arrive in Omaha
soon to take charge of his new duties,
according to orders received from the
War deoartment in Wasnineton.
Colonel Settle, who was formerly
commanding officer at Fort Crook,
was assigned recently to a southern
camp and left Omaha last week.
At Dresent Major beverson is in
charge.
