Cattle For a Tuesday receipts of cattle
were fair, about 7,000 head, and the two
daya' supply has 'een fully 4,000 heavier
than Monday and Tuesday of last week.
Quality of the offerings was very good as
a rule, and with an active demand from
both packers and flipping buyers the mar

in some caaea a little stronger. Hist of
the beef steers are selling around $12.00

movement was active all morning. De

very keen, and prices ruled strong for any

Wheat Price Hat BnUtsh Kffee.
Chicago, Feb. II. Progress toward an
increase of the government quarantee price
on wheat for the 1918 crop had a bultieh
effect today on the grain markets her. Corn
closed stesdy e to c net higher with
March $1.27 and May $1.26. Oats gained
$0e to $c. Provisions flnishsd at an
advance of 19c to toe. Both tern and
oats, especially oats, responded quickly to
word that the senate agricultural commit
tee at Washington bad favorably reported
the Oere resolution. Enhancement tn the
value of corn futures, however, was rela
tively small, owing to the fact that corn
trading has been greatly restricted nndar
prevailing exchange regulations and In par.
tieular the maximum price allowed, $1.2$ a
bushel. Unfavorable weather and ths read
iness with which Industries absorbed avail
able supplies gave firmness to corn before
news came of the latest step regarding
wheat.
Aggreaslve buying, chiefly on ths part
of the houses with eastern connection, car
ried oats far above any previous record this
season. Heavy profit taking sales took place
but did little to check the bulge.
In the provision market announcement
that the food administration had asked for
tenders of meat and tard, March shipment,
was much more than an offset of the price
of hogs.
