Prices closed steady, March $1,27 4 and May $1.25401.26, with th final rang a a whole 4 off to 44 up compared with 24 hour before. Oat gained 14 to 1 net. In provisions the outcome varied from I cent decline to a rise of 17 cents. It took selling orders on a large scale to check advances In corn. Among th chief reasons assigned for thi condition was the fact that receipts, although liberal, were not nearly so large as on the preceding day. The supply of choice grsdes especially .did not equal the demand. Besides, a further Improvement waa noted In traffic condi tions east of Chicago, with freight being accepted freely on all roads but two. Throughout the session the view seemed to prevail that under present circumstances the accumulation of any large stock her or at other leading centers could not be re garded as likely. Highest prices of the season were made In oats. Buying on th part of big houses with export connection kept price on the upgrade from the outset. Firmness In the hog market, together with liberal meat shipment tended to sus tain provisions. Cash Prices Corn: Nos. 2 and S yellow, nominal: No. 4 yellow, $1.6601.70.
