winter. The Duryea war relief was
started in Omaha by Mrs. Edgar
Bryan', wife jf Captain Bryan, then
stationed -at Fort Omaha and was
taked up by the Vassar club as its
share of war work. The Duryea re
lief sends clothing and other needed
supplies to the stricken inhabitants in
the regions evacuated by the Germans
and the funds from Miss Fpaser's lec
ture will be devoted to buying sup

Bruno 100 Per Cent Loyal.
Prof. Sarka Hrbkova, chairman of
the woman's committee of the Ne
braska State Council of Defense, has
an invitation to address a jubilant au
dience at Bruno,, Neb., in ctlebration
of the splendid returns in the Red
Cross campaign completed in the
township in Butler county. The sum
of. $10,900 was raised by the-pebple
of that community in a dnv.e lasting
about .two weeks. There are 900
people living in this to.wnslv'p and it
boasts 90 members that is a 100 per
cent membership. In the township,
in which Bruno is located there are
896 Bohemians and four Germans, a
magnificent total of 900Moyal Ameri
cans. Mr. R. Prchovec secured this
splendid result, wnich represents an
average donation of $12.11 per indi
vidual in the township. Every man
ownuig a farm subscribed $15 for
each 40 acres he owned, whereas peo
ple of the town paid in 3 p'r cent of
