CHICAGO GRAIN AND PROVISIONS
Weakness of New York Stock Leade to De
cline In Corn.
Chicago, Oct. 31. Material declines took
place today In the value of corn, largely
as a result of weakness In the New York
stock market and owing to weather con
ditions adapted to husking and to the rural
movement of new grain. The close was
steady but H to 1 cent net lower with
December $1.17 and May $1.13 to 31.13H.
Oats lost a shade to H4. The finish In
provisions ranged from 35 cents off to a
rise of 26 cents.
Throughout the day, selling pressure and
lack of support tended to bring down the
corn market. Liquidation of stocks appeared
to be more generally taken than heretofore
as a signal for unloading by many holders
of corn who would otherwise have withstood
the bearish Influence of clear skies and
freezing temperatures. Reports that an
unusually large amount of new corn was
turning out to be of unsatisfactory grade was
variously construed, bears asserting em
phatically that much more soft corn
would be available for December delivery
at five cent discount that longs would
be willing to pay.
Oats were easy with corn, although coun
try offerings proved light.
Advanced prices on hogs made provisions
average higher. The jump in the hog mar
ket appeared to be related to federal as
surances of "proper remuneration to the
producer."

a shipper who bought a fair load at $16.65.

Severe Wave of Liquidation
Sweeps Over Market, Drag

New York, Oct. 31. Another severe wave
of liquidation swept over the stock market
today, dragging the greater part of the
tlon of the long-existent downward move
tlon of the long-exlstenf downward move
ments. Keener realisation of the Italian crisis
and disappointment at the showing of the
United Siatej steel corporation for the third
quarter were the primary Influences which
prompted the decline.
Losses were partly retrieved In the final
hour when shippings and some of the rails
rebounded vigorously. Categorical denial by
officials of the stock exchange of, any In
tention to resor. to minimum prices or oth
erwise restrict legitimate trading also
served to restore a semblance of order.
United States Steel was singled out at
the beginning by the bears who argued thai

In that Industry. This stock was offered li
single lots 1.000 to 9 000 shares down to Its
recent minimum of 99. but closed at 100,
a loss of 3 points. Other equipments and
more specific war Issues rallied variably
from extreme losses of 3 to 6 points.
Weakness of rails constituted the most
disconcerting features of the mld-sesslon,
but. Canadian Pacific came forwan' Im
pressively with marines in the last hour and
a few high -Need specialties also regis-,
tered full recoveries. Sales amounted to
1,100 000 shares.
Virtually all International and domesttt
bond Issues. Including war flotations wers
materially lower on lighter offerings. Lib
erty 4s were steady at par. but the 3J
covered the wide range of 99.80c to 99.96c

Coffee Market.
New York, Oct 31.-There was a mod
erate business In the market for coffee fu
tures today with fluctuations narrow and
Irregular. The Interest of the trad still
seemed to center chiefly on the ocean
freight situation and If anything, them
was a rather 'more optimistic feeling as to
the future supply of tonnage. This may
have accounted for some scattered liquida
tion at the start, while there was also a
little trade selling. The opening was 1
to 4 points lower with December selling
around 7.08c and May 7.61o before the end
of the morning. Prices then steadied on
covering with May working up to 7. 5 St
and with the market closing net 1 point

THE WYOMING SPINDLE
TOP OIL COMPANY
Owns 4,920 acres of proved oil land in the Big Hollow Basin, of
Wyoming. Twenty-seven test wella showed oil in every one of them.
DEEP WELL NOW BEING DRILLED
Every share of stock in this company is secured by all of the
company's valuable holdings and all of the holdings ere in a proved
field. We own the land, pay no royalties, drill where we please and
are confident of getting oil in big quantities.
If you could make an inspection of these lands you would be
sure to say these 4,920 acres are ample security and unquestionably
a safe investment.
Wyoming Apex is already producing oil a mile from our hold
ings and Carmania Oil & Refining Co. has bought and acquired big ,
holdings in this same field. Recently a. big corporation was announced
to build a refinery to take care of the oil from this field. Oil men
acquainted with our holdings say we have the best locations in the
Bie Hollow Basin. Proof of our rights to the land are on file with
county cleric at Liaramie, wyommg.
My earnest recommendation is
BUY WYOMING SPINDLE TOP
OIL COMPANY stock while it is
cents per share and be
fore it is advanced or with
drawn from the market
