Cattle Receipts were liberal for a Thurs
day, about 9,000 hsad, and the four days'
supply has been fully 1,009 heavier than
for the corresponding period last week.
Complaint Is general of the very Inferior
quality of the big bulk of the receipts this
week, and desirable beef steers were ex
tremely scarce todav Anything on which
the beef men and feeder buyers came In
competition commanded fully steady price.
but on the general run of plain light and
medium weight steers and butcher stock,
the market was very sluggish and unevenly
lower, fully 25o lower on an average for the
week,
There waa a very dull trade In stock cattle
and feeding steers, and prices are anywhere
irom 350 to too lower than they were
week Ago. Brunt of the deollne has fallen
on tbeHlght and medium weight stock and
calves, the latter being In many cases fully
$1 lower than last week.

The advance 'a materially aided not only
by extensive short covering, but also by "

CHICAGO GRAIN AND PROVISIONS.
Denial el Reported $10 Bogs Cansea Cera
to Ascend.
I Chicago, Oct 11. Bullish constructions
put on announcements ' from the food ad
ministrator touching corn and hog values
rallied the corn and provision markets today
after early declines. Cora closed firm
to 0 net higher with Deoembsr $1.16
to $1.15 and May 11.11 to $1.11. Oats
gained O to 0 . The finish In
provisions ranged from ilo setback to a rise
of lto.
Predictions ef a cold wave tonight were
chiefly responsible for temporary down
turns which corn prices underwent. The
low temperatures promised seemed to Imply
that the orop would be more quickly put
Into good condition for shipment than was
likely In the event of a continuance of moist
warm weather. When attention Was directed
to statements of ths food administrator
denying that government officials were
planning a reduction of hog values to $10 a
hundred weight, corn began to ascend. The
main reason appeared to be that the untrue
reports of a $11 standard In prospect for
hogs had been coupled with talk of an ac
companying probable slash of corn prices
to $1 a bushel.
Sharp dsollpes In the hog market weak
ened previsions at first Latsr demand
broadened from packers and seaboard in
terests, Influenced apparently by the pub
lished views ef the food administrator.

Every Farmer Ought to Try As
It Costs Nothing if Results
Are) Not Satisfactory .
n i
If the farmers of Nebraska had
contribute 60 cents each per year
towards a common fund, they, too,
might' have had eminent chemists
working in their interests and before
now have perfected a real remedy
for hogs. The gentlemen who are
now in Nebraska from Virginia, se
curing distribution for the remark- ;
able preparatio known as the Vir
ginian Anti-Choleric Hog Remedy,
say that it required ten years' study
of hogs and their ailments in this
country and abroad before the labor
atory was able to perfect the remedy
which has banished .hog cholera for
the last five years from-the section
where Virginia hams are from and
is universally used.
Of one thing we are certain: The
remedy is absolutely guaranteed and
costs nothing to try if it fails. It is
most highly endorsed by the hog
raisers of that section arid being
sold through local druggists and deal
ers at 1 per hundred-dose package,
is both economical and efficient
Cholera and other hog ailments .
cannot be prevented by simple meth
ods. It is necessary to produce in the
blood a germ to feed entirely on
the cholera germ. So successfully is
this accomplished by the - remedy
created by those employed vf or that
purpose, it produces more anti
choferic germs, known as phygocites,
than anything as yet discovered or
known to us. Agent have visited v
sections where epidemic, of. hog
cholera had prevailed for years, and
whenever this Virginian Anti-Choleric
Hog Remedy was correctly used,
it did not fail to prevent and often
cure hog cholera where hogs were
still able to eat. v
R. B. White, a general merchant
at Carrsville, Va., says: "We have
been selling your hog remedy for
nearly three years under a guaran
tee, and have never had a package
returned. It has cured all casesxof
cholera where used. All my custom- -era
recommend and endorse it" If
any Nebraska farmer can't get it of
the local druggist, write Beaton Drug -Co.,
