It has been the usual Friday trade. Demand from packers was Indifferent, and on the class of cattle offered the market was around 10015a lower, and alow at that. Compared with a week ago, however, both cornfed and range beeves are selling from 60c to 11.00 higher, and the general market Is quotably the highest it has ever bean at this point Cows and heifers were also In limited sup ply and sold slowly at shaded prices. The advance In butcher and canner stock, how ever, has been fully as great as In beef steers, amounting to 60cll.00, and demand for all grades of she stock Is at present rather broad. Veal calves, bulls, stags, etc., are selling much the same as they were a week ago, If anything a shade stronger. Trade in Blockers and feeders was rather slumpy. The advance the early part of the week was responsible for shutting off the demand somewhat, and closing quotations, especially on, light and medium grades, are from 25c to 60c lower than they were the first of the week. Aver age cost was a big BOc higher than yester day and for the two days prices show an advance of 90c or more. The reaction Is the natural result of the altogether too sharp advance shown the first part of the week. There was no outside competition on feed ers and several bunches of both feeders and killer lambs had not sold up to midday. Top on feeders was $16.75 with the bulk selling downward from $16.50, while a few fat lambs that have sold' went around $16.00 16.26. Rheep were for the most part lacking, but In view of the decline In lambs prices are quoted as nominally a little lower than at the high time the mid dle of the week. Virtually completa stoppage of buying of Immediate delivery corn had a bearish effect on that com modity today and also on corn future. Tha close wns nervous, futures at 1 to 1 cent net decline, with cash corn down 18 cent a bushel and December at $1.1201.12 and May at $1.09. Wheat gained 1 cent, closing firm at $2.01 for September; oat Inst to 1 cents snd provision finished mostly 10 to 45 cents off. All other factors were lost sight of, when, as If through concert. Industrial buyers, In cluding representatives of distilleries failed lo taka 4 hand at purchasing corn for spot delivery. Strong commission houses that had been conspicuous on the bull side of the market for futures, ceased at once to afford support to futures, and there was a simultaneous fall of cash value to 18 cent a bushel under yesterday' best figure. Slight rallies In the final transactions were ascribed to the Incentive for an Increased feeding demand based on the current high price of hogs. Wheat showed a tendency to harden in value, owing perhaps to report that an tin usually largo amount of winter wheat was still in shock and that there were conse quent possibilities of extensive damage. Export Interests were said to be buying wheat here and at other points, and to have taken all told 1,500,000 bushels within the last few days. Pronounced weakness In oats resulted from favorable weather for threshing and from In creased consignment notices. A rally due to estimates that export sale so far this week aggregated 4,000,000 bushels, was hot maintained. Immense sales to realise profits for hold ers pulled down provision after an upturn oaused by a fresh record-breaking advance In the hog market. On the break, packer were said to have turnod to tha buying lde. Wheat No. 3 red, $2.12; No. 3 red, $2,120 3.20; No. 2 hard, $2.25'2.28; No. 8 hard, $2.2002.25.
