OMAHA COMES FROM
BEHINDON DENVER
Eourkes Refuse to Be Suhdued
by Four-Run Lead and Bring
Home Bacon by Six-to-Four
Count. , .
The Rourkes came from behind on
the pesky Gruzies with much clatter
and clamor yesterday with the .result
that the enemy from Denver was re
pulsed, 6 to 4. ' "
The Kourkes had a lot. to -over
' come, but strong and sturdy athlete
that tfrey are, they performed the"
trick in noble ityle. In the fourth
. inning Ray Hartzell startled the
Rourklets by pasting a homer over
the right field wall with two on- the
bases, but after recovering from the
shock Pa's pets bent to their, task
and drove home enough tallies to
overcome this disadvantage 'and win
the game.
The fourth stanza in which the op
position scored all its runs was a
more or less wicrd frame. After
O'Toole had sent Hartman down by
the strikeout route, Kelleher scratched
a hit through the box and stole sec
ond. Butcher popped out to O'Toole,
but Mills walked. - Then Hartzell
manufactured his' circuit drive.
Fail to Cover Plate.
Big Moose McCormick, who seems
to have reached the period of sec
ond childhood, singled to center and
Shestakbeat out an infield hit to
ward third. Nye's throw went wild
and the Moose hiked to third on the
play. After Nye hurled the pill,
Brottem, O'Toole, Krug and Nye
, beat It for third apparently to cover
the bag should Shaw throw to that sta
tion to try to nab McCormick. That
left the home plate uncovered and
the Moose, who resembles five-ton
truck going up hill when sprinting
down the ho:ne stretch to the plate,
legged itifor the rubber under, a full
head of steam. And he made it much
to the chagrin of the vexed Rourkes.
That wqs the extent of the scoring
by the Grizzlies. v ,
Error Scores One.
In the home half of the fourth,
Krug fore off a single, went to sec
ond when Miller walked, took third
on Yardley's hit through first and
scored when Hartman dropped Brot
tcrn's fly. Thompson's sacrifice fly
scored Miller. i
Cooney walked to start the fifth,
took third on, Krutr's single to right
arid scored on Miller's infield out.
Shaw's single to center scored Krug
and Shaw came home when Fin
Yardley poled a triple to right cen
ter. ' f v
In the seventh Cooney was safe ,on
Kellehcr's error, took second on
Krug1 sacrifice, -stole third and came
home on Miller's infield hit.
The fourth was O'Toole's only bad
inning. The rest of the time he
hurled big league ball and fanned
thirteen of the Grizzlies, a record for
the season!
The Rourkes and Bears continue
hostilities at 3:15 this afternoon.'

(From a Staff Correspondent.)
Lincoln, Aug. 10. (SperiiD Re
ports on whiter wheat, according to
Vice Chairman George Coupland of

seed wheat go at the market price,"
said'Ir. Coupland this morning,"
and there will be little effort made
by farmers who have the seed to hold
it for a bigger price."
