organizing a Red Cross auxiliary.

pital supplies, will explain the work.
The plan is to open a shop for the
making of hospital supplies, which
shall be kept open every day. There is
an urgent call for more supplies. ...
At the preliminary meeting, which
was held at the home of Mrs. N. M.
Graham, Mrs, R. P. Falkner was elect
ed temporary chairman and Mrs. R. C
Vermillion, secretary. Mrs. P. J. Far-
rell is taking an active part in the
work of organizing the South Side
women in this movement.
Negro Tott Gun.
At the south side police court ses
sion this morning, Isaac Jackson, col
ored, while he did not draw a draft
number, drew thirty days in jail. Jack
son lives at 4427 South Twenty-sixth
street and when picked up the police, .
was toting a gun and a lot of cart
ridges. He was charged with carry
ing concealed weapons.
Recently another negro was in po
lice court on the charge of carrying
a gun and was given ten days.

Recruited Full War Strength
The Fourth Telegraph battalion.
made up of employes of the Bell Tel
ephone company, was recruited to
full war strength when thirteen em
ployes of the company enlisted Thurs
day morning. The men are from Sioux

Gordon Kelly, Stockman
Of South Side, Dead
Gordon Kelly, aced 33. a orominent
South Side stockman, died yesterday
at the St. Catherine hospital of pto
maine poisoning.
Mr. Kelly had been a resident of
Omaha for eight years. He is survived
by a wife and two children. The body
will be taken from the Hartman un
dertaking parlors to Kansas City to
day for burial. . , - .
