ROURKES CONQUER
ON PENNANT DAY
Marty 0' Toole in Box and
Bears Defeated Handily by
Score of Eight to Three;
Nabors Does Pitching.
- Omaha' turned the tables yesterday
and ran away with the pennant-rais-ingr
game, 8 to 3. .','
The champs poled out fifteen bin
gles off Nabors and Smithson while
all the visitors were able to acquire
amounted to five, : ' . ' '
Marty O'Toole was on the, line for
the Rourkes and pitched par excellent
ball. Considering his teammates
were Icind enough to donate five er
rors to the Denver cause, the Bears
should have amassed more than they
did., Marty whiffed six of the Griz
zlies and passed only three. Which
amounts to a good day's work.
Jack Nabors, did the pitching for
the Bears and was driven from the
box. in the sixth. Smithson relieved
him and did no better. Everybody
on the Omaha club hit as least once
and Manager Marty did it four times,
twice for two bases each time. Otto
Nye, lately of the Browns, made his
first appearance in a Raurke uni
form. Before the game was begun, the
permit won by Omaha last year was
hoisted on the flagstaff in the center
field. A pro'cession of the players of
the two teams, with the exception of
Marty O'Toole, who was busy warm
ing up, followed the flag to the pole.
Denver will close the series today.
