June 29 Both sellera snd hnvAra held off In the wheat trade today nendlne congressional action on the food bill. Prlcee kept Within narrow limits and closed at ex actly the seme as yesterday's finish, July at 99.01 and September, 91.81. The out come tn corn ranged from 2o decline to c advance, and eats lost a shade to 44 0Uo. Provisions suffered losses of 17c to 26c net At first wheat showed a leaning to the hear aide of the market Influenced more or less by word that plans were being fnrmu- iaiea to ensure joint action or the United tea ana Canada in regu atlne- exoorta and milling operations as well as general msr. kellng requirements. Hardening of values iook place in tne last bait or the session apparently as a result to some extent of gossip that new domestlo wheat waa not moving an freely yet as had been expected. Export activity put strength Into tha July delivery of corn, but distant options were heavy owing to optimistic crop reports. Toward the end of the session, some selling was brought about by advices from Wash ington that assurances nf shipments to Hol land from the United States had been sus pended. Oats were easy In conxequence of the favorable crop outlook. On the other hand a good sited reduction of the visible supply total Monday was looked for. Provisions lacked any aggressive support. Lower quotations on hogs discouraged bujera and so, too, did the fact that cash demand was sluggish. Cash Prices Wheat: Nos. 2 and 8 red and 2 and 9 hard, nominal. Very few right etiotc long-fea and wall finished beeves have been offered of late, but even on these prloe are quotably 14090a lower -than Monday. The big decline this week, however, haa been on the (air to poor year lings and lightweight steer, and these are selling anywhere from, 95o to T5o lower than a week ago. Texas grass cattle are beginning to run freely and th trad this week has experienced the usual slump that occurs whenever th packers have access to a liberal supply of grass beef. ' In cows and heifers the decline In prices haa been fully as great as tn beet teers, and bulk of the she stock Is selling around 76cO91.00 lower than ten days ago. Buyers ha;e been particularly bearish on th grassy stock, and at this time grassy stock' con stitutes the bulk of th offerings. Veal calves are around 60b lower Mr th week, and there has been a further decline of fully that much In bulls, stag and rough stock generally, v There has been the usual' summer dull ness In stock cattle and feeding steers,, and although supplies have been, light, the de mand has been even lighter, and the limited offering have been very slow sale at prices anywhere Irora 60o to fl.OO lower than ten day ago. , Quotations on cattle Good ' to choice beeves, 912.40012.40; fair to good beeves. 9U. 76019-40; common to fats -beeves, 910.0A OH-60; good to choice yearlings, $13.00 19.00; fair to good yearlings, ' li.d4JU.H; common to fair yearlings, $9.64010.76; good to choice heifers, $10.00011.00; good to choice cows, 99.00O10.00i fair to good oows, 93.0009.00; common to fair (seders, 99.76 07.60; good to choice stooksrs 96-5009.60: stock heifers, 9.00O,-Si stock sows, 97.00 09-40; st 00k calves, 97.9004-69; veal calves, 10.00 1 4.00; bulls, stags, tO.,. $9.90014.90. Arrival were esti mated at 191 ears, or 19.000 head. Thll brings the (ive days' total up to 40,491 head which Is 19,400 larger than a weak ago, 93,000 heavier than two weeks ago, and aa Increase o almoat 10,000 head qvar the cor responding days of last year. 1 Th firmer undertone noted In 'he mar ket toward yesterday's' close was still In evidence today. Packers wanted all the hogs that were hero, despite tbe fact that offerings have been very generous all week, and the liberal run was absorbed at prloes that were generally stronger. Shipping hogs sold unevenly at prices that ranged from a little easier In some cases to a much a 4 cents higher In other. In fact, this unevenness was noted a,ll through the market, packers buying hogs, on an equally Irregular basis. Right at the open ing a few droves went to . killer .e.t,nrlce that were barely steady to In spots 5 cent lower, but the majority of the seller were out for at least steady prices, and they car ried their point, bulk of the offering selling steady to strong, while toward the close values were If anything higher, especially om medium to plain hogs. ; v The fact Is that considering quality, some traders thought the market, should' be called higher. As a general run offering were the poorest of ths week, the ..plainer grades being very plentiful, while there was a very marked scarcity of the toppy kinds. At any rate, the tone . was firm, and the general run of prices, tf anything, stronger. Bulk of tbe sales was mads at a spread of $14.76014. 46, and th best hogs here sold at 916.15. The market Is still around 96 to 40 cents lower than last week close, and the last couple of days has been the lowest In nearly three montlis. . Representative sales; No. Av. ah. Pr. No. Av. Sh.
