Buyers worts still very bearish this morning and they succeeded In buying tha bulk of their hogs lower, despite strength at other points. snippers made a rainy decent buy, pay ing prices that were fully steady to. In spots, higher for the hogs they wanted. una or two or tne pactcers also bought a few bunches early that were steady to not over 6c lower, but very few bids that good were maus ny juner ouyers, wno finally succeeded In putting up the long end of their droves at prices that wsre from a nickel to, In most cases, lOo lower than yesterday's earlier trade. The close waa another dead affair, some twenty or more loads on which sellers would not make concessions demanded, being still In first hands at noon. More hogs sold 10c lower Than any other way, but It was hard to quota s general market on account of the extreme Irregularity of the trade. Packers bought most of their hogs at 316. 00015.30. There was quite a sprinkling of shippers and some of the best heavies bought by packers on up, a number of loads selling at $16.60, which was the top. Representative sales: 1 No. Av. Sh. Pr. No. Ar. A couple of single decks mads up the en tire offerings. They Included a fsw pretty good native spring lambs that brought $17.26, and some decent shorn ewes at $9.s6. No clipped lambs were on sale, hut a good kind was quotable as high as $16.60, and toppy spring lambs would probably have sold around 317.60. Estimates that the total domenti production of wheat for 1917 would bo nnarey 30,000,000 htinhnl in oxet'ss of the government June figures did a aood deal today to bring about declines In the wheat market. QuotntlonH closed 2c to (( not lower, with July at 13.23 snd Hoptombnr at $1.96, Corn gained o to 2 lie and oats Ua to Hie. Th outcome in provisions was unchanged to be lower. Almost from the outset opinion was sen eral that tho wheat crop this sesson would bo considerably larger than tho government report had Indicated. Sentiment In this re spect, however, became much more nro- nounced after the Issuance of a definite statement by a leading authority that the outlook woe for a yield of 05.000.000 hush els as against 656,000,000 hutthels stiEReHted by the government. Advices from other usually trustworthy sources were to the ef fect thnt the winter crop eBncotally had nro- gressed late under highly favorable condi tions and that the quality was good. Cold weather likely to Intnrfore with ths best development of corn had a bullish ef fect on the t ' cereal. A subsequent rise In tomperstures acted ns only In part sn off set. There was likewise but a transient bearish influence from eosmId that the con dltlon of the crop was equal to a ten.year average and that the July report would show a prospect of the largest yield on re corn. Signs of export demand helped to lift oats. On tlio oth'T hard, i:rop reports were excellent and a big Increase of acreage was announced m mnaua. Strength of hogs and corn upheld provl slons.
