Hogs Receipts, while tb largest of the
week to date, were no more than fair for
Wednesday, arrivals counting out about 120
cars, or 8,600 head. For the three days
supplies foot up 20,771 head, being more
than 3.9O0 smaller man eitner iae. weeu
or two weeks ago, and ever 10,000 short of
the corresponding days a year ago..
Values just about duplicated yesterday's
Upturn, the market, which waa more or1 less
unoven, being as a general tning arouno
lOo higher than yostarday's averages yuai
lty of the offerings continue to run very
rood, some traders consiaermg ion ay sup
ply, if anything, of slightly better quality
than yesterday s.
Heavy shipper buying again featured
the trade. Order buyers have had mors
latitude yesterday and today than for some
time, tns mg percentage or goou noga m
ths supplies making It possible for the-i to
fill heavy orders. Their purchases amount
ed to anyway a third of the supply today
and were made at prlues that were all of
loo higher, while tn spots they looked 16c
or more uo.
In fact, up until the close the market
was yesterday's right over again. Broad
shipping competition forced packer Into
the game In good season, and their hogs
showed nearly as much advane as ship
pers, being fully 6 10c, and tn most cases
10c, higher. A good share of the offerings
had changed hands long Before 10 o'clock.

SHEEP A famine sharpened packers' ap
petites for lambs this morning and the
trade was fairly active at prices that were
2S& jQo higher than yesterday. Ths few
cars that were offered had alt crossed th
by the middle of ths forenoon. Quality of
most of the offerings waa good.
The leads of California spring Iambs oF
very good quality sold at lll.oo, with a light
sort. The prloe la as hlifh as has been paid
in more than a week. Clipped lamba showed
the full strength of the advance, some
of $14.26 were a little grassy and not very
desirable. Better kinds reached $14.85
16.00, the latter price today's top, and the
best orlcs recorded here In nearly two
weeks. No natives of consequence wero on
offer.
Sheep were minus quality, so far this
week they have shown no tendency to make
much of an advance, and today wars not
nominally quoted more than strong. Feeders
also were lacking. Yesterday a two car
bunch of California springers went to a
feeder at $14.7$.
Supplies wars extremely light, though not
so small at s week ago today when owing
to the severs storm only one ear got in.
Today's arrivals were estimated at ?vo cars
or 1,350 head. The total for the first half
of the week of 9,530 head Is 2,000 smaller
than a week ago. and only a little mora
than half as large as a year ago, but heavier
tha.. two weeks ago, when receipts were
the smallest In two years, by a couple of
hundred head.

CHlCAtiO GRAIN MARKET.
Optiseisile Wheat Crop Reports Continue to
fore Cereal Price Down.
Chicago, June 13. Optlmlstta forecasts re
lardlne- the yield this season la the Da
kotas, Minnesota and some other sections
tended to cau a decline tn wheat today.
Largely as a result the market, although
steady, at the close was e to 2c net
lower, with July at $2.31 and September at
$2 07. Corn finished a to 3e up, and
sals gained c to lo. Tlio outcome In
mcivUloriB wan a setback of 2c to 26c.
One of the leading authorities In the
wheat trade estimated the 1917 prediction
In North and South Dakota and Minnesota
at 140,000,000 bushels, as against 88,000,000
last year. There also wero continued fa
vorable reports from Canada, which were
partly ofrset, however, y assertions mat
three of the province would not harvest
within 1.000,000 acres or me total, au
vices from Missouri. Kansas and other win
ter wheat states pointed to a harvest above
the average on tha acreage which had not
been abandoned.
Corn rallied sharply from an early selling
rush, which was due to expected wanner
weather. On the decline heavy buying was
said to have been done for seaboard account
Besides, many complaints were received
that excessive ratns of late had put the
crop In an unfavorable condition.
Firmness in the oats market developed
In the main from signs of a liberal export
demand. July delivery was in especially
good request
Liquidating sales by holders weakened
provision. Host of the pressure van oa lard
and rib.
