A largo proportion of the ar rivals had been shipped for Wednesday's market but failed to arrive In tlmo by rea son of tho heavy storms In tho country. The total for tho four days this week foots up 32,808 bead, being slightly larger than last week and larger than a year ago by over 2,000 head. The market was a little slow on all grades and from that on down to fully lOo lower In many cases. In fact year lings were generally quoted as fully 10c lower. Cows and heifers were slow to a little lower. Feeders were scarce and for that reason the market did not show much change on tha. kind. There were also a few trains after 3 o'clock which were, of courao counted in today's supply. This morning fresh ar rivals wero estimated, at 168 cars or 13,000 head, and It was thought that this might be over run. Tho total for the week so far Is 36,166 head, as compared with 80,869 a week ago, 46,669 .two weak ago and 40.636 a year ago.-- - Hardly any of the hogs that earns In after midday yesterday wero sold, such bids as were mads on them being considerably lower tban morning prices. As a result there was quite a carry-over for today, actual offerings being somewhere around 200 cars. With so big a supply at their disposal packers paid no attention to steady wires from Chicago but made their early offers fully 10c lower than yesterday. Ship pers, however, bought quite a few nogs early, that were steady or close to It, and eventually packers had to raise their binds on the better grades, bulk of the sales when finally made not being more than Cc to In occasional Instances 10c lower. They had so large a supply to pick from though, that they were able to discriminate pretty severely against the commoner grades, and up to a fairly late hour in tno morning a good many highly mixed and light hogs were still In sellers hands under bids that were fully 10c lower. If In fact they were able to get bids at all. Earlier sales were made mainly at $16.20016.40, but there was a probability that when these commoner hoga were cleaned up the bottom of tho bulk would be around $16.10 or $16.16. Best heavies failed to beat $16.46. The general market was quotable as uneven big 6c lower, and closing weak, with the greatest declines on the commoner kinds. Representative sales: No. Av. Sh. Pr. Two of thess were California spring lambs dl-ect to packers. For the rour days receipts root up 14,969 head, being more than 1,000 larger than ' last week, but 4,600 short of two weeks ago, and some 600 smaller than for tho correspond ing aays last year. One load of natives, mixed owes and lambs was all that ever aot In yesterday. These sold pretty close to steady, the lambs. which ware very good, bringing $16.76 and the ewes $10.00. Other stuff that was in sight failed to arrive until late last night or this morning. Today's offerings were cleaned tin In pretty fair season, although packers did not seem to be overly eager buyers and were out for continued declines If they could get them. The undertone to the market was again easier, and while some sales looked steady, others were weak to possibly as much as a quarter lower. Sales Included tops of six loads of California springers at $16.10. They were not the best, and a nominal top of$16-60 Is quotBble.Bewt REAL ESTATE TRANSFERS Charles R. Con Advance Received Decided Cheek oo Active Market. Chicago. June 7, Notwithstanding that ths corn market continued to show remark ahle activity today, sensational advances te price received a decided check. Prospect of warmer weather and of consequent bet ter field conditions for the growing crop did a good deal to ene down values. The close was heavy at the same as yesterday's fin ish to 3 cents lower, with July at 1.63 to 11.53 and September at fl.42 to 11.43. Wheat closed unsettled at cent net de cline to 3 rents advance, with July at 12.32 and September at II. BR. Oats lont a to 1o. The outcome In provisions ranged from Ic off to a rise of 7c. t General commission house buying and relative lightness of offerings made the corn market bulge at the outset, hut soon the feeling spread that the advance which began yesterday had been so extraordinary that a halt was needed for at least the time being. The result was that traders turned to the selling side. Profit taking by shorts led substantially to a fresh upturn, but the effect failed to last. Bulls were handicapped by numerous reports that country offerings of cash corn had become enlarged over night to a ma terial extent and that shippers and Indus trins had made liberal purchases to arrive. Talk of chances thst the government crop report tomorrow would prove bearish count ed against the buying side of the wheat market. General expectation was I hat the winter crop yield would be estimated at 380,000,000 bushels. Oats sagged owing largely to predictions that the government report tomorrow would be bearish regarding oats as well as whetit. Provisions were quiet and Irregular. The market averaged lower most of the day in spite of hogs and corn. cssn prices: wneat; no. a rea nominal; "So. I red, 12.80; Nos. 8 and S hard nominal.
