turned Tuesday from a trip to Ches
ter, Neb., Mrs. Woodring's old home.
While there they attended the com
mencement exercises of the Chester
High school, of which Mrs. Wood

riage of Mrs. Mabel LaRue. Wash
ington, D. C, to Major Charles Burke
of the Canadian army. The ceremony
took place in Newark, n. j. mm.
Burke, a former Council Bluffs wom
an, was state commander in Iowa of
the 'Ladies of the Maccabees and
lately has had charge of an eastern
district, t In times of peace Major
Burke u a solicitor in Brandon, Mani
toba. He is now on his way back to
ranee, where he spent nine months
before returning on a short furlough.
Mr. E. O. Floyd of Sheridan, Wyo.,
and Miss Nellie Weaver of this city
wre quietly married Friday evening.
May 25, at the home of Mr. and Mrs.
W. J. Hughes. Only the relatives
and near friends were present. Mr.
and Mrs. Floyd will make their home
in Sheridan.
Mrs. D. B. Gensel entertained at
dinner Monday evening in honor of
her birthday.
Mr. and Mrs. L. Green, Mr. and
Mrs. Julius Knepper, W. A. William
son, George Hanthorne and A. W.
Stone have returned from the grocers'
convention at Toledo. After the
close of the meeting the party went
to Detroit, from there to Cleveland
by boat and then on to Buffalo and

bridesmaid wore a white suit and a
corsage bouquet of sweet peas and
lilies of the valley. They left imme
diately tor a short trip and will be at
home after Tune 15 at their new home
