Sioux City, la., May 24. (Special Telegram.) Manager Holly's Indians won the odd game of the series from Pa Rourke's champions today, 8 to 7. It was a tight contest from start to finish, both Merz and Gaspar being hit hard in the pinches. Ragged fielding behind both men aided in the run get ting. The Rourke's began with a one run lead. With. Burg and Thompson down Krug doubled along the third base . line- He scored on Smith's single. Bradley also singled, but Schick ' grounded out to first. C The visitors added one run in the -second on Shaw's single, a walk to Woodruff and two outs at first. One in the Fourth. Shaw's three-bagger and Woodruff's Safety to left produced a tally in the fourth.: Merz kept the locals from first base during this time, but in the fifth Hungo lead off with a single. Crosby was out on an infield fly. Merz threw Gaspar's grounder over Woodruff's head for an out at second. The eenterfielder allowed the ball to get away and Hungo scored. Gaspar reached third. I AUSTRALIAN BOXER DIES OFJPHEUMONIA Les Darcy Succumbs to Attack of Disease After Month's Tight; Had Enlisted in Aviation Corps. I Memphis, Tenn., May 24. Lcs Darcy, the Australian pugilist, died at a hospital here this afternoon from pneumonia. He had been ill more than a month. Darcy died about 1 :45 o'clock, Fred Gilmore and Mick Hawkins, his man ager and trainer, respectively, being at the bedside. Gilmore sent a cable gram to the dead man's mother in Australia and the body will be held here pending instructions from her. Darcy had enlisted in the aviation reserve corps here shortly before he was taken ill. At that time he was pronounced by Captain Christie of the medical corps as the most perfect specimen ot physical manhood that had applied for enlistment in the corps. In America Five Months. The National Base Ball commission launched a movement today to raise a patriotic fund for the benefit of sold'ers' de pendents by recommending the play ing of Sunday base ball in six east ern cities. The proceeds of these games would be donated to the war relief cause. The commission also urged that the clubs of the American and National leagues proclaim June 5, the date for army registration, a "day for conse cration of service in accordance with President Wilsons message.
