remember tlic anonymous letter to
me which I printed a few days ago,
the one from a humorless individual
who thought I had too much egotism.
I accepted this criticism with com
placency, pointing out patiently that
I have no egotism and that the
anonymous writer has no sense of
humor. You remember all that, don't

Well, as I said, I am vindicated,
For here conies another anonymous
letter, but, oh, a sweet, comforting
anonymous letter.
And it's from a lady. Ychl "Sally
Shakespeare she signs herself.
It is typewritten, very neatly tvne
written, every word spelled correctly,
every little comma in its right little
place, every little period in its tight
little place, every exclamation point
so straight and fine, every interroga
tion standing right in line. Quite the
opposite of the ignorant and unsight
ly scrawl of my anonymous detractor

State Defense Council Outlines
Plans for Conservation
Congress to Bo Held
in Omaha.
Governor Neville will appoint a spe
cial committee of representatives from
various parts of the state to arrange
suitable entertainment for Secretary
of the Treasury McAdoo while he is
in Omaha next Thursday to attend
the Conservation congress.
Governor Neville has wired Omaha
representatives that Mr. McAdoo will
arrive in Omaha at 6:45 the morning
of Thursday, May 24, and that lie will
leave at 4:J0.
The program given below is for the
conference which is called by Gover
nor Neville.-under the supervision of
the Mehraska Conservation and Wel
fare commission, in co-operation with
the State Council of Defense. The con
ference is open to representatives
from agricultural, education, social,
religious, labor, industrial and com

Hummel Finds Lake and 1
May Locate Park There
Cily Comniisiioner Hummel has
discovered a lake in a territory south
cast of Benson, and which will be
come part of Greater Omaha on
June 5.
"Lake James" is the name of this
expanse of water, which is about 600
feet long. Gladys avenue terminates
at the lake and Adda and Angelina
avenues are on the south.
"Guess we will have to locate a
park out there some of these days,
remarked Mr. Hummel.

President Wilson Calls
For Dietz and Wattles
Qould Dietz has received a tele
gram from President Wilson, asking
him to come to Washington for a
conference of all the chairmen of Red
Cross societies in the United States,
Friday, May 25. The finance chair
man, G. W. Wattles, was also told to
come May 24 for the conference. Both
men expect to leave next Tuesday.
