, BRINGING U UP THE BEK: OMAHA; WEDNESDAY, MAY 9,-191', Drawn for The Bee by George J0S1ES WIN WHEN BARHAMWEAKENS Wayne Hurls Good Ball for Six . Sounds, But Blows in the Seventh. HAS HIMSELF TO BLAME After hurling pretty (air ball for sue innings, .Wayne Barham, Van ' couver recruit, qualified as a first-class aviator in the seventh and eighth I spasms of yesterday's pastime and the 1 pesky Drummers bowled Pa Rourke's athletes over to the tune of 7 to 3. , Wayne has nobody but himself to I blame, although a decision by Marty J Krug may have had something to do with the defeat. With two men on . base in the seventh, Barham fielded , Kirkham's sacrifice bunt, but hesitated i too long in deciding whether to throw ' the ball to first or third. Everybody i was safe as a result and it gave the ! Josies a chance to start the fireworks. After Schick opened the seventh with a two-base knock to right, which McCabe should have caught but let get away from him, Krug ordered Burg to bunt. Joe obeyed orders and Schick was thrown out at third. The Rourkcs might have put over a couple of runs if Krug had told Burg to hit the ball. Barham got away to a more or less bad start in the first when Shay, Mc Cabe and Kirkham made singles, which netted one tally. Omaha tied the count in the sec ond on Bradley's single, Krug's sacri fice, an error by McClelland and Irelan's hit. Omaha Scores Two. St. Joseph chalked up a second run ) in the third on Moore's double and j McClelland's single. They held this lead until the sixth, when Omaha . registered two scores. Earl Smith gave the frame a start ' with a double. Bradley went out, but iKrug tripled to left, scoring bmith, . and came home himself a moment later when Shaw whanged a three ply blow into center. The Drummers resumed leadership in the seventh, however, and kept it . until the end of the game. Shay walked to open the fatal frame and McCabe beat out a bunt. Kirkham bunted and Barham let the bases fill up because he didn't know what to do with the ball. Moore popped up, but Irelan made a bad throw to Bradley after the catch and Shay hiked home, while McCabe sneaked to third. He scored on McClelland's sacrifice fly. The eighth was another bad round for our side. Bob Smith singled to open and after Henry whiffed Hovlik walked. Shay sent Smith and Hovlik home, with a triple and scored him self on Kirkham's infield bingle. Baldy Isbell's Wichita aggregation comes to . Omaha today for four games. All games start at 3:15.
