Hogs A broadening In the slxe nf offer
ings did not prevent today's market from
being a fitting finish to a very satisfactory
week. Shipper demand was of about the
same volume as yesterday, orders fcelng
filled at fully steady figures. Chicago wires
were slightly bearish and local packers bid
lower early, and in fact bought some hogs
at the opening that were as much as 6c
lower. Before long, however, prices began
to strengthen up, and rqost of the packer
hogs were finally bought at prices that were
steady or nearly Ho, while the close was the
best time, being fully steady to If anything
little stronger. A good clearance was
made by mldforenoon,

Sheep Light supplies and a brisk de
mand have combined to. force an even
greater upturn In sheet- and Iambi this
week than was ecored a week ago, ana in
most cases a little mors. Most of yester
day's supplies did not get in until after mid
day but when sales were made they were
10 (J 16c to on some 01 tne 01a sneep a
quarter higher than -the day before. Six
iars of ffooled Mexican lambs sold from
$17.76017.86, the latter figure being 16c
above the top the day before. Fair ewes
were brought at $13.25, and desirable light
westerns reached $14.26. Four cara out of
the sixteen on sale were direct to a packer.
A comparison of the quotations shows
that wooled lambs are $1.001.26 higher
for the week, topa being $1.16 above the
high figure a Week ago. On the close most
ot the light and handy Mexican lambs were
selling at $17.75 and better, while the top
was $17,85, as against $16.70 the week be
fore. Weighty Iambs would not, of course,
s4il quite so high and westerns are quotable
from $17.50 downward. Clipped lambs are
fully $1.00 higher. Best are quotable up to
$14.60 as compared with a top of $13.60 a
week ago md other kinds are showing a
proportionate advance.
