Springs New Hurler in Person of Chemeler, Pro tege of Stecher's. HURLS THE WHOLE GAME Ernie Holmes' White Sox didn't have quite the class to compete with Pa Rourke's Western leaguers in a frigid fray yesterday afternoon and the amateurs wentxdown to defeat, 9 to 4. Marty Krug flashed a new hurler on the public against the Holmes' troupe. He answers to the name of Chemeler and is a lean, lanky Bohem ian from Dodge county. Tony Stecher, Joe's brother, brought Chemeler to Omaha and persuaded Marty to give him a chance. Chemeler used to pitch on the team Joe and Tony played on. The Dodge lad worked the entire nine frames, despite the cold and the dangers of acquiring a sore whip. For six rounds he held the amateurs help less, allowing no scores and but three hits, the entire trio being made by the Probst boys. But in the seventh his arm weakened. He allowed ar un in this round by uncorking a wild heave and in the ninth the Holmes' gang sneaked three counters over on him. Throwi Heavy Ball. Chemeler has a sidearm delivery and throws a ball which Tony Brot tem says weighs a couple of tons. He has a fast ball and a curve ball. The fast one has a good hop, but the curve breaks too quickly. If e improves his control, though, he may turn out to be a pretty nifty twirler. Bill Madden was on the firing line forhe Holmes'. He got along fairly well until the seventh when a quartet of blows coupled with two errors netted the Rourkes five runs. Today the Rourkes will clash with the Creighton university team at Rourke park. Score: J ' OMAHA. HOLMES SOX. ( AB.H.O.A.E.
