Now they bring nearly $10. Humane Ofiicer Niclson estimates that the horse and cow mortality in Omaha is about 000 a year. All the animals are given away free to James Whelan for the hauling. Judging by the increased value of. the carcasses a handy ledger account is being piled up by Whelan. Phosphorous used in matches is(cx tracted from the bones. With the coming of spring the work will be pushed with allpossible speed. The first work that the Burlington will do looking to the spending of something like $1,000,000 in Omaha during the coming season will be the cutting away of the hump tliat juts out to the north, juat west of the Tenth street viaduct. The earth that will be removed will be hauled to Gib son and there used to build up the grade of the yards.
